rushmc 18 #26 November 17, 2011 QuoteRush, if the Republicans were to field a candidate who was not "picked by the elite" (whoever they are in the Republican party -- and were they the ones who picked Sarah Palin?), do you think he or she could be elected by the entire voting population? (i.e. independents, liberals, conservatives, Democrats, Republicans, socialists, fascists -- you get the picture). Wendy P. Yes and this is why the elites need to get them picked now"America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Bertt 0 #27 November 17, 2011 Don't know how much the Mormon thing is going to hurt Huntsman or Romney - between the two of them, they've had fewer wives than Newt. The other dynamic here is the TV producers' constant quest for new and exciting programming. This certainly works against Ron Paul. You might have noticed that Huntsman's daughters are just about getting more air time than he is. When a candidate does something comical or outrageous, he's guaranteed to be featured on the evening news. Calm and sensible doesn't sell television. You don't have to outrun the bear. I think these two are probably way more moral than the rest of the GOP primary field. The fact is, a large a percentage of the conservative Christian GOP will never vote for a Mormon if they have a conservative Christian choice instead.
