again you assume you know my opinion.

You keep assuming. Clearly you know what Benny Hill said because I see you often type "ASSume". So I can only ASSume that you are voluntarily making an ASS out of U and ME.

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUD.. all that whine and the fromage that is going with it.. is stifling some of your thought processes.

What do you know about my personal finances? Are you my accountant?

Every person on this fucking forum is your accountant, since you keep thinking that vent your sob story of incompetence will get you sympathy. A lot of good advice was given to you- falling on deaf ears.

Your doom and gloom rants would carry better if you spent a bit more time in thought, and did a bit more fact checking when you pull facts out of thin air.

And after a deep breath this is the best you could assemble.
Really? This was it? This was the up most you could synthesize?

Funny I bet this kind of line works great on the jello crats. But when you meet someone with a bit of a back bone....well then what?

Hi I'm Shah, I have a back bone.

Please go back take a deep breath and formulate a coherent and well thought out rebuttal or a concurrence to the topic at hand which to reiterate is " Due to enhanced productivity, as it stands now with the continued reduction of worker compensation packages reviving the slumping economy would take an act of god or a down right magic."

We are all awaiting your fully formed fully formulated thoughts on the subject.

I'd love it if you could create your thoughts without pulling facts out of thin air. This entire thread is full of people answering why your hypothesis is patently false. You respond with new stories.

Your latest invention was secret tax loopholes for the 250k wage earner. I could benefit from this info, so if it really exists, we're dying to hear about it.

The funny bit is you're trying to get an MBA to do the same things you claim are destroying the country. Perhaps a different school would be in order? B school should be allowing you to see new possibilities, not just providing a new bunch of drinking buddies.

There are many disruptive forces in play and the beautiful part is that it's now possible to execute a game changing concept with very limited up front capital investment. That is quite different than 20 or 40 years ago.

What's bad about now versus then? Back then you could do alright with limited education if you coupled it with hard work. Now that will be much more difficult. The middle class will be split into winners and losers. But your presumption is everyone will lose, and that's just not the case.

Judas that took forever.

Yes I concur in this day and age, one needs ever increasing levels of education and training to stay relevant in the workforce. And with ever increasing efficiencies less and less people will be needed to do the same level of work.

Yes there will always be jobs for plumbers and electricians and odds are they will be making more than engineers in the not too distant future. However for those who have gone to university and who are striving for a stable middle class 9-5 job....it may become a unobtainable dream.

After all why hire anyone when you can just hire them as a temporary self employed contractor?

And let's face it an unstable well educated under paid workforce will not be the engine of our recovery.

Thoughts?

Because unless your product is so simple that it could be run in Vietnam, you need people who have been in the environment for more than 3 days.

I was just in Vietnam.
Do you know how many American educated and American trained specialists I saw there? Who are perfectly happy and doing VERY well living on $40k a year?

Most products are simple, and if they are not we quickly find way to automate their production.

Average person who assembles the Ipad II has a high school education.

Welcome to the modern world!

But that said they stated on NPR that for the past 12 months the average job creation in the US has been 100k jobs?

Not bad. Not GREAT! Not OK...but not bad. Maybe there is hope!
As long as these people who are getting these jobs are making no less than what they made in their previous jobs we may yet see the end of this horrible recession.......

But then again we all know that these guys and gals picking up these new jobs are not making what they once made.

Apple employs thousands of people to design products like the Ipad. These are not easy jobs to get - Vietnam might have a handful of people who are so qualified. Apple is currently building an entire new campus in the form of a spaceship landing in a forest in Cupertino.

there are two economic game changers that may work out - fusion power and quantum computing...

We have fusion power right now. It's called "SOLAR".

and very nice it is too - but not an economic game changer

if we made it cheap enough?
When visiting China I could not help but notice that almost every building had a solar panel on top and every bit of green space had a wind turbine.

I had a chance to visit the Apple production facility....you do not want to know how those who assemble your apple products live.

Google "Company town"
Though the facility is not owned by Apple, the company who does run the place treats the people as if it owned them.
Vietnam? Not much better.

You have a vast well educated workforce for assembly of all types of products. And if you want to do R&D well look no further!
I could not believe the people I met in Vietnam! They all graduated from the BEST US schools!

When I asked why they didn't stay, their answer was simple....."In the US I would make money but here my money goes further..."

Americans earning more than $1 million collect more than $30 billion in government largesse each year, according to the report assembled by Sen. Tom Coburn, a Republican from Oklahoma, who is so often at odds with members of both parties that colleagues call him “Dr. No.” The Internal Revenue Service provided the data showing how much money was going to the much-referenced top 1 percent.

In all, millionaires receive hefty help from Uncle Sam. The $30 billion in handouts, to put it in perspective, amounts to twice as much as the government spends on NASA, and three times the budget of the Environmental Protection Agency.

Funny that there's no comment from those who want to cut the food stamp program and who resist extending unemployment benefits.

We will never see quantum computing at the level expected. The best anyone can do moores law almost topped out is take 4 atoms and do the compex computation of 3x5=15! Any vibration and the atoms fly apart in the MRI machine.
