Is Cain toast?

Something that bothers me is, we all know we need to 'change'. We need to get rid of the old guard... clean house. Every election year we get 'new candidates' who have nothing to offer and so, it's business as usual. Why, can't we get 'real' candidates who aren't self-centered, self serving, spin-doctors and not to mention 'half crooked'. What's a voter to do?

The problem is that in order to raise the incredible amount of money needed to run for office, candidates have to "sell their soul". I am sure many start down the road with great intentions and ideas, but soon find out that to get to the finish they have to leave those intentions behind.

Saw an AP story that said the woman who claims to have had a 13-yr. affair with Cain is also being sued by a former co-worker for libel!
So far, none of the women who have 'stepped forward' with claims of sexual harrassment are not the most 'reliable' of people.

Perhaps not, but phone records apparantly indicate significant interaction between Cain and his most recent accuser.

Even though I am acutely aware of how false accusations can be used to great effect, I am unimpressed with the parts of the story that appear to be undisputed.

I am constantly amazed by people in the public eye who somehow think they can engage in indiscretions without someone catching on. Think Bill Clinton or Ashton Kutcher.

I have long worked in an environment where one may expect to be on camera at any time. If one is to engage in unacceptable behavior on the job, it will likely result in being escorted to the gate by Security. As a result, I cannot recall the last time I heard of a harassment charge; if a false charge was filed, one need only review the video to put the issue to rest.

Regardless of whether Cain withdraws (a near-certainty at this point), nobody on either side of the aisle is anywhere near competent to assume the Presidency in light of the issues we now face (Ron Paul comes closest). The incumbent is a nice little fella, but his long suit is eloquence coupled with brute force and ignorance - not an effective combination in the long run.

I plan to write in Spiro Agnew if Ron Paul does not get the nod. To do otherwise is to reward bad behavior.

I agree. The candidates with high aspirations, who really want to make 'good' changes and bring some sanity back to our government are soon eaten-up by those in control. It seems, those with high aspirations tend to lack the almost 'brute force' of those in power. What a sad commentary.

The fact that he has problems with the 'questions of substance' is a better reason he's hit bottom than his philandering. The guy just doesn't have what it takes.

Chuck

Agreed. Outside of reading a prepared script he has no idea about a single thing other than the operating of a pizza shop!

They guy may have been good at running his business, but outside of that I think he is a dunce!

Why are we stuck with another shit sandwitch of candidates again this election??!

Visions of 'Big Brother'! We have been so fearful of our government spying on us we forget about security cameras, cell-phone cameras... with audio! Big Brother is everywhere! strangers, neighbors, everyone is a 'spy' and noone is safe and secure from it. Those who believe they are, ala Kutcher, etc. are living in another world. Big Brother is US!

It is a Brave New World, indeed.

I have to admit that there is some consolation in being monitored - assuming you are on the side of the angels.

If someone accuses me of taking drugs and I am clean when tested for long-term residuals, that is reassuring.

If somebody accuses me of doing something inappropriate and I can get video of me eating a sandwich in the cafeteria at the time in question, I am in the clear.

The only time I have been bitten by false accusations, I had the means at my disposal (but not the presence of mind) to record the events as they took place. Had I been able produce video, the hysteria that resulted from the vindictive claim would have simply withered on the vine.

As it was, I was subjected to an "educational experience." I am not sure what I learned, but the tuition was impressive, indeed.

He doesn't qualify there!

When you have a government OF the 1%, BY the 1% and FOR the 1%, there can and will be no change.

As the man said.. follow the money. The only reason to go into politics for most politicians is the money and prestige. There are very few left who actually believe in service to their country. Even those who USED to believe in it seem to become just more Duke Cunninghams.

I'm willing to bet that the majority of people with questionable sexual ethics might not be the most 'reliable' of people and seek to fool certain people into thinking they are something they are not, by trying to appear to be upstanding members of their community and church, by trying to legislate morality.

I mean I suppose I can understand that to a point.. they CERTAINLY know their sin.... do they then try to punish all the other like sinners as themselves?:|

I didn't realize Obama won with 1% of the vote.

I am sure there are plenty of things that people including you do not realize or wish to not realize it.

Folllow the money... how many in Congress and the administration are NOT members of the 1%?

How many in State governments are not part of or bought by the 1%?

I'm afraid, we're 'in the weeds' in that department. To me, it would take a complete house cleaning or reducing the length of terms that congressmen can serve. Candidates with the ability, knowledge and 'moral terpitude' and aren't self centered and self serving. Someone who really wants to do the job and uphold what that job stands for. Just my thought.

That's scarey!

Too often, all the gadgets and gizmos we have available to us, could be used for 'good'. More often, they are used for self-gain'. I do, love the fact that law enforcement uses youtube to catch bad guys.

This was actually covered in the news only a couple weeks ago. Only 11% (*) are in the 1% - 57 Members. In the form of your question - 89% are not members of the 1%. Not quite the answer you were suggesting.

The median net worth was 900k - almost certainly behind your Highness.

* - now this evaluation did not include the value of their home, so it's probably that there are a few more hitting that 9M$ threshold. But it's unlikely that will get you to remotely close to even a majority.
* - it also is unlikely to account for the pension plan.

Yup! It's passed allong to each 'next generation' and the 'good ol' boys' marches to the beat of drum of the obscenely rich. Meanwhile, us 'mushrooms' get the 'scraps' of whatever they are willing to toss at us. Before you know it, election time is here and suddenly, me and a whole bunch of other folks are the most important little things walking! After the election, it's; "You are WHO?"

It ALSO does not include "campaign contributions" and other "perks and junkets" with "those who matter".

Think about that nice little retreat that certain govenors took a few months ago.. where their calenders were cleared for the weekend with no information about where they were going??? As managed as those schedules are... an omission like that.. WAS noticed.

Poor guy - had a name that sounds like a nasty intestinal parasite.

There was an issue of MAD Magazine around the time of Agnew that had a bit in it about 'Spirochete'! Every time I heard Spiro Agnew's name, my thoughts went to MAD Magazine! :D:D
