MOAB, Utah – The body of champion skydiver David Brown has been discovered by a hiker in Moab, in southeastern Utah, almost four months after he went missing.

Moab police made the announcement Wednesday after the Utah medical examiner confirmed the 37-year-old Canadian's identity through dental records, The Salt Lake Tribune reported.

Brown, who had been working as an instructor at Skydive Moab and had been living in the U.S. for the past 10 years, was last seen June 29 when he left the home he shared with his boss Clint MacBeth.

He had apparently only planned to take a short hike and did not take his wallet, or any cash or belongings with him.

After Grand County Search and Rescue crews conducted extensive searches of the mountains surrounding Moab in the weeks following his disappearance, police issued a national missing person alert.

Police refused to speculate on the cause of death and said they were awaiting the results of an autopsy.

Brown, originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, holds a skydiving world record and had won a national championship, the report said.
