Is that a federal rate? Kind of senseless to have a federal rate. You will not be inside in many parts of the country for that much money, let alone eat. Minimal clothing in Montana chews up a bit more than in Florida etc.

Yes. That's the Fed's poverty line. You're right in that you will barely have food and shelter for that, which is why they call it poverty.
