airdvr 197 #1 December 20, 2010 Having just returned from 8 days in the Caribbean I have to say that I saw some of the most beautiful ocean-going vessels. I mean wow! Beyond comprehension. I noticed some interesting trends. Registry to either the Caymans or Jaluit. I know where the Caymans are but Jaluit? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaluit_Atoll Looks like a way to dodge taxes to me. I'm certain if I was to research further I'd find some proof. And of course we know how hides cash in the Caymans. Anyways, I've change my mind on taxation of millionaires. And it goes much farther than that. This is St. Barts. Almost a gated island. Cruise ships don't dock here and are not welcome. Laborers can't live here and must be ferried in from St. Maarten. We sat at the bar and ordered 2 Caribs...8 Euros each. Take a look at the menu. The prices are in Euros. It is priced to keep average folks out...period. For no other reason than to make sure we don't see this type of wealth. And it's earned off the blood, sweat, and tears of the sub-par man. Do they have a right to do this? I say yes. But open your eyes people and see the light. I don't think they are paying their fair share for the common good of the system that allows them to earn this kind of wealth. People who are in favor of inheritance and net worth taxes only want it because they rely on the "big government with it's massive bureaucracy" because they feel it is the government's job to spend spend spend and spend even more money without ever thinking government has gotten too big and too bloated with no shortage of self entitled lemmings lining up to feed off of the tax payers tit. The only problem with taxing consumption is that it does not address the underground economy.
