gjhdiver 0 #26 December 19, 2010 Quote Overtly sexual acts whiel in uniform are already on the shit list, yet gays want it to be OK for them?Once again, not "equal rights" they are looking for "special rights" IMO Incorrect. No-one was asking to be allowed to engage in public displays of affection. All that was asked for was not to be discriminated against based on their sexuality. Military service is supposed to be based on honor, sacrifice and trust, yet that very military was forcing people to live a lie. There's no special right being granted here. timmyfitz 0 #31 December 19, 2010 Quote Quote Why do you think that discipline in the US military is so bad compared to other nations? LOL, not because they are not allowed to openly suck a dick, that is for damn sure Is this what you actually believe DADT is all about? Now that it is repealed, gay guys will be "allowed to openly suck a dick"? I have read some ignorant statement here in SC corner before but I think this one will hold the title of the most ignorant forever. ________________________________ "1981 to 1988 is 7 years"-Kallend (oops, it's actually 8 years,Kallend) The decade of the 80's was from 1980 to 1989. 10 years. If you remove 1980 and 1989 you have 1981 to 1988. 8 years.

I think Skyrider's concern is more about "over correction" and we'd see self righteous gay servicemen and women being obnoxious and over the top about it instead of just saying "ok then" and then get to work. I think that's a real concern in a public arena, but in the military, dropping DADT will likely be implemented with little fuss and they'll just move on like adults. Military seems to integrate more smoothly and naturally than any other area whenever politics or oddball bias finally gets out of the way - maybe because people really do understand that they rely on each other and can focus on character and competence and leave the cosmetic stuff aside. ... They will join the straight men serving in Speedos, and the straight women in skimpy bikinis and high heels. That's been such a problem for the military. Nor can I remember straight people refused the right to marry or serve in the military because of their sexual orientation. Gays, on the other hand, have seen such discrimination in a great many places. This ruling is a very big one, and came about partially _because_ of those gay rights parades. Heck, keep going in this direction and we won't need parades to demonstrate for gay rights any more.
