Burn bible??????

Recommended Posts

Lots of other groups have tried it. Everyone from Nazis to Jews, commies to Muslims, even Catholics and Protestants at times. Somehow it's still here.

People should have the right to burn whatever they please. Whether it be their countries flag, a religious book or a science book.

While it may be in bad taste, one should always be allowed to do it.

I believe in science, and while I think that a mass burning of science books would be utterly retarded- people should have the right to do it.

People need to stop getting butthurt over things others do. So what if they don't respect your religion, get over it.

People are always just looking for 1 more thing to fight about, and everyone always wants to get the last word in.

I should be able to burn the American flag, the Bible, the Qur'an and anything else I so desire without being targeted in any way. Respect in my eyes needs to be earned, and if I deem something not worthy of respect I should have the right to display it.

You're definitely not free if you're not able to show your feelings on a certain subject... Note that burning bibles would be saying 'fuck Christianity', not 'fuck Christians'. Attack any faith or ideal, that's fine. Just don't attack the people who follow it. That way you get to express opinion without invading others rights to have theirs.

I like this whole post except the blue bit

Do what you want with your private property? It's none of my business. AGREED

As for the blue bit about "WHY" you are burning, pissing or whatever - I don't care - it's also none of my business - and frankly, why should anyone really care?

This isn't freedom of speech or religion on anything of the kind. It's just about our right to do what we want with our property. That other stuff is just nonsense to the real point.

great post

Absolutely. Hitler (in public) made a great play of national christian faith. Nazis burning the bible would be quite counterproductive.

I actually might have had more respect for you if you would have added "Neener Neener" to the end of it.[:/]

Did anyone see the movie, "The Book of Eli" starring Denzel Washington?

The Bible and the Quran are just printed books. For the Christian, the Holy Bible provides instruction on how to increase and strengthen his relationship with God.

The Muslim worships symbols of his faith and the Quran is no doubt the most meaningful.

There certainly does seem to be a fine line between bibliology and bibliolatry.

I tend to agree...however, after thinking about all this pyro lunacy, there may be some exceptions on a personal level. Say this Jones guy had some muslim converts in his church as he claims...he also claims to provide food and shelter...maybe even money for ex-muslim women. Now if these muslim women or any former muslim felt a personal need to burn the Koran, I would definately support it because it's a personal thing, not meant to obtain publicity or incite anger, even if the end resulted in such things. To me, it's a matter of the heart.

It's not to uncommon for some Christians to make a list of all their shortcommings and burn it as a symbol of moving on and away from that lifestyle.

Some Christians burn their pornography collections.

I once dated an athiest and found some risque photos of her...a little while later, i saw her outside weeping as she burned them.

It's a personal thing.

See, that's a profound difference, & that being the case I agree with you.
