BikerBabe 0 #6 November 11, 2008 it's an interesting question. Could lead to all sorts of headaches for the state if they truly are going to enforce the ridiculousness that is prop 8. I have a vision of a "legal" wedding requiring a state-sponsored doctor in attendance to give a checkup prior to the vows. On the other hand, prop 8 could be a HUGE boon to the doctors/clinics who do sex-reassignment operations/therapy. hmmm!! You know, there's just soooooo many things the yes on 8 people very obviously didn't consider. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup! FallingOsh 0 #13 November 11, 2008 Quote The whooshing sound you proabably didn't hear passing over your head might be explained here: http://www.tsroadmap.com/reality/birth-certificate.html Yep "California Statute: Cal. Health & Safety Code § 103425 (2006). Text: Whenever a person born in this state has undergone surgical treatment for the purpose of altering his or her sexual characteristics to those of the opposite sex, a new birth certificate may be prepared for the person reflecting the change of gender and any change of name accomplished by an order of a court of this state, another state, the District of Columbia, or any territory of the United States. A petition for the issuance of a new birth certificate in those cases shall be filed with the superior court of the county where the petitioner resides. Summary: California will issue a birth certificate reflecting the proper sex." So a correct birth cirtificate must be issued. Two women will have two birth cirtificates that say they are two women. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life. Sounds to me like the clerk could ask for a birth certificate to clear things up pretty quick. QuoteBTW, the script . . . in the business we call that satire. Eh? What the text states is that CA will issue a new (not ammended) birth certificate on completion of a sexual reassignment. Are you saying that you agree that a person assigned the sexual identity of male at birth who then undergoes sexual reassignment to become female is then born female in your opinion? If so, thanks for being progressive and open minded. If not, duck. You're still standing under the large whoosing sound.Owned by Remi #?

I am a Christian, but I do not think I have a right to tell people whether or not they can be married. That should be an AMERICAN freedom of choice-a federal law not just a state law, but the law period. I've learned.... That being kind is more important than being right.
 riddler 0 #21 November 12, 2008 QuoteThat should be an AMERICAN freedom of choice-a federal law not just a state law, but the law period. Sometimes, the fed government has limited choices about what is legal in each state. I remember when they raised the legal drinking age from 18 to 21 years. Colorado was one of the last two states to hold out, and finally the government threatened to take away millions of dollars in highway funds. That kinda made sense, considering drinking and driving among young people was one of the key issues. But I don't know how the Fed could pressure states to change their laws. Taking away highway funding doesn't make sense. I also see the entire issue from a revenue perspective. The states and churches opposed to gay marriage are losing money to be had from gay weddings. The lawyers should've been strongly opposed - think of the money they could be making from gay divorce. Insurance companies would probably do better, since some people would pay slightly more to have both spouses insured - many couples can't afford individual insurance for both parties. The only thing prop 8 does is get gay couples to fly to another state to get married, and lose income for California.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. I am just sick of all the bickering and shit from it all. Just as it is a choice to go to church or not, EVERY american should have the right to choose their mate male, female, hermaphidite. Not just male, female, hermaphidites living in the following states. I think that they should file joint tax returns and be able to have life insurance policies, and inherit the others things when their wife/hubby dies. Prop 8 sounds like it is trying to complicate something that is not complicated. It is not the revenue for California that interests me it is the freedom of choice that interests me.-Caress I've learned.... That being kind is more important than being right.
