Rest In Peace, America

Recommended Posts

Fixed it fer ya, there, good buddy!
Amer'ca will get great again, jes' ya wait n' see.
You betcha!
Don'tcha jes love that Joe the Plumber, Joe SixPack, and Joe Biden are speaking? Highest voter turnout in a long time, good ole' buddy. Gotta love democr'cy.
Bush should be terribly embarrassed at what he cost the 'Pubs this time around. He'll hate himself every day he's on the board of the bin Laden family oil company, enjoying his ill-gotten gains on a beach, boat, and boardroom as he and his buddies have collectively robbed America of dignity and integrity around the world.

Nope not this year.. at least anything on hooves.

With a torn rotator cuff the 7MM Mag just tweaks it a tad too much.. let alone dressing it out and getting it out of the woods.

More than likely America will fall because of over-educated idiots who can spell every word in the dictionary but are too freakin' stupid to kill their own supper.

Wrong, actually. Success in the hunter-gatherer lifestyle will only be important after civilisation has collapsed.

This country was built by the blood, sweat, and tears of men and women who couldn't spell and thought of educated folk as elitists.

Yeah, just look at all the spelling mistakes in the constitution. Hell, half the signatories only knew how to put an 'X'.

Those are the founders. They were mostly well educated men.
On the other hand, those who actually did all the work were common people who, for the most part, were illiterate.
Very few civilizations have ever been ruined by their lowest class citizens. Civilizations have virtually always been brought down by the mistakes and misdeeds of their leaders, their "elitists".

I think it's more like this (attached). You'd think with the Hispanic vote, we'd have gotten closer to Jesus' time of three days. I blame the Texan in office for the eight years of decomposition. :P

We're celebrating tonight with some pan-fried squash, beautiful new york steaks smothered with shrooms & blue cheese, and much better than average wine. (We did pull some chicken out of the freezer too, but we didn't actually thaw it because we didn't expect to have to eat it). B|:D

Trust me on this... in the 21st century its a tad more important to get a good education to get the kind of high paying careers needed to succeed. It is a whole lot easier to buy your food rather than poach it.

Who said anything about poaching? I have been raising a slaughtering my own beef (as well as chickens, turkeys, and fish)all my life. The end cost is much, much less. The meat is of much higher quality than what is commonly available, and I know that my beef has no steroids, antibiotics, etc. in it.

Whether a high paying career is needed to be successful depends upon what your definition of success is. My father never made more than an average middle class wage, yet he raised three kids, put them all through college, and was very respected in his community. I have always considered him a very successful man.

Yup, pretty soon we're going to be the People's Republic of the US. You wanted socialism, now you've got it. Hugo Chavez is calling for his close up with Obama...

Good point, JohnRich. The economic crises of 2008 will likely be the beginning of the end for this country. We dodged a bullet in the 80s, when McCain almost killed savings and loans, but giving Bush and McCain a second chance to kill the banks seems to be the first nail in the coffin.

Right now, I'm too happy to care much B|

I could use quite a few very cold beers and maybe a few shots of vodka to deal with this shit. Thank God I'm still a college student and I'm not going to have the rug completely torn out from underneath me.

The bright side of the change of guard is to finally demand accountability from the current Administration. We've been propelled into a warrantless War, an economic crisis based on unbound spending.

I just hope that the new Administration will consider take the time to reveal the full extent of what we've been commited to. There is hope, this is still America and perhaps is time to bury the old America. It's fitting to say it was a nice place... lets rebuild a great place.

So you're saying that the election of a black man who doesn't necessarily agree with your particular views means the US is about to implode. If you have that little faith in a fellow American who clearly loves his country, as someone else wrote earlier "meh, don't the door slap you on the ass on the way out."

Too bad you didn't see John McCain's very gracious concession speech. He had a few hotheads in the audience, but managed to chill them out. It was probably the best speech of his campaign and for once I was impressed with his perspective and grasp of what it's about.

You know, you really have no right to give up on your country like that.

Sore loser #2

There is a side of me that wants to say "Rest in Peace Good Ole' Boy Mentality" but I won't say it.
Like many...I'm old enough to remember white/black areas of the cafe, drinking fountains, entrances to buildings, and even after the civil rights movements there were still remnants of those sorts of attitudes and signs.
Like many here, I can remember vividly the protests seen on television. I was only a baby in 1963, so don't recall that event. I do remember King's assasination. I do remember the riots. Many here probably don't know life before 1970.

It's a time of change. It's a symbol of a new era no matter how you slice it. The sick, mentally ill, socially-depraved that would judge a man by the color of his skin, his name, or his religion are clearly now in the minority. The ignorant back-water religious freaks are for now, put to the back of the proverbial bus as the minority.

Two days ago I heard a guy at Applebee's comment that "there is a reason they call it the WHITE house." ... Read MoreI turned around, fully expecting to see a big, hairy, horse-faced inbreed. Instead, I was faced with a man who looked like the CEO of a successful company.
Sometimes, you just can't keep a good BYU-tard down.

Regardless of how you shake it out, it's a new day. A different day.
At least 51% of the country believes Obama will do a better job. He may, he may not. But one thing we know for sure, it's not four more years of McSame. We have a shot at recovering our place in world politics with a posture of dignity and integrity. Something in my gut tells me that Obama will deliver that.

I'm stunned that there are reactions filled with vitriol about Obama winning. I'm practically moved to tears listening to his speech. If Bush was the divider, Obama is the uniter.

Never before in my life have I been as proud of my country as I am right now.
