And attempts to make it will make the claimant look like a bit like a partisan hack

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As will the claims of Obama's people saying that exp does not matter for President, but it does matter for VP.

----------------------------------------------------------

Palin will be gaining experience while she is VP instead of Obama gaining experience while being president. I would rather have someone getting the lesson from someone that is experienced than someone that is inexperienced giving the lesson to someone.

do enlighten us! Because it's pretty clear to me that the mayor of San Francisco has more proven experience than the governor of Alaska.

I didn't realize the mayor of SF was running for Pres or Vice Prez? :S

GOP VICE president candidate, Palin: no foreign policy experience, but has experience of governing a state and being a mayor of a small town.

So have you given up trying to convince us that governing Alaska is a big deal? As I suggest, the state has fewer people than San Francisco (far few at the middle of a business day) and far fewer problems with the finances. Feel free to demonstrate how it's actually a very difficult government to manage.

Never said that, though I think he could have done far better - and far worse. You think Gore would have done better? I doubt it, and any thoughts along those lines are pure conjecture.

THAT's where you're getting it! Now - how often has Sen. Obama voted with positions held by the Bush administration?

:)
When you present something laughable, people are BOUND to laugh! Don't worry...I'll always have my sense of humor. Did you ever read Sen. Obama's article he wrote for Foreign Affairs, BTW? That should make you laugh too.

Post:
I live in Illinois and realy think Obama isn't doing a good job.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is it that you don't like about the job he's doing?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Maybe he a few of these facts below: (read the rest in http://www.associatedcontent.com/...tialbirth.html?cat=9 )

In 1999 he was the only Illinois State Senator to vote against a bill barring early release for (criminal) sex offenders.

He voted against filtering pornography on school and library computers and he voted for sex education for kindergarten children through the 5th grade.

Also, in 2001, he voted “present” on a bill to keep pornographic book and video stores and strip clubs from setting up within 1,000 feet of schools and churches.

Just as unsettling is his voting record on abortion.

Twice, Obama voted against bills prohibiting tax funding of abortions.

In February 2004, his wife, Michelle, sent out a fundraising letter, which actually stated her concern over the rise of conservatism in the Country, and that the ‘so-called’ partial-birth abortion was a legitimate medical procedure that should be protected.

sounds good if you are an unemployed, sex offending illegal alien that needs a place to look up porn while getting an abortion

I never said it was difficult. I simply pointed out a few things. Palin the VP candidate for the GOP has executive experience as a state governor. Obama has NO executive experience. And it amazes me how stupid people are when they imply Alaska is all tundra and Eskimos. ;):S

Is that an admission on your part that Senator Obama is incompetent to be president, given his experience level?

:)

Not at all, and I think we can all see that McSame is incompetent based upon his remaining capacity, evidenced by today's selection.

OK, let's do that. Which VP candidate asked "what is it exactly that the VP does every day?" a month ago?

OK, which VP candidate said that their Presidential candidate was “not ready to lead”?

STEPHANOPOULOS: You were asked, “Is he ready?”
You said, “I think he can be ready, but right now I don’t believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the- job-training.”

BIDEN: I think that — I stand by the statement.

Sorry, lets not forget this:

Biden: I would be honored to run with or against John McCain because I think the country would be better off.

Yep, said over a year ago, back when Obama had less experience in government (but still much more than Palin.) Good thing McCain chose a VP with even less than that!

Sweet. A year on the campaign trail and he's now ready to be leader of the free world. Very convincing.

land mass of Alaska: no one seems to know - varies - but 586,000 miles^2 seems most common answer.

land mass of San Francisco: ~50 miles^2.

population of Alaska: 670,000 (2006 Estimate)
population of SF: 744,000 (2006 Estimate)

I know there is no tundra here, might be a factor in the population density being over 10,000 times higher.

Well, heck. With a beauty contest and two years snowmobiling under your belt you can be a VP!

Another wonderful dodge, Cotton. She's not running for President.

His own VP choice said he wasn't ready. Now you claim Obama is finally competent to lead after one more year of experience... campaigning.

In terms of qualifications, she only needs one ...will she increase the chances of getting McCain elected. I think the GOP made a good, strategic choice.

I think he could have gotten more mileage out of other women in the GOP. This one is Qualye like. I'm not sure too many bitter Clinton fans want a woman that badly.

Right, woman = good choice. Cheerleader ho-bag = bad choice. That was the most important selection this year, as McSame is on his deathbed and swing voters will worry that barbie bar whore could be the one.

Exactly. I think most of the Hillary supporters who are holding out and saying they won't vote for Obama are going to see this as exactly what it is ... pandering.

It's as if the Republicans have said "Look, we found ourselves a woman... and the right kind, not like that Hillary bitch. This one can shoot a gun fix her hair and pop out lots and lots of babies!":S

As we can easily tell from our more right wing (er, centrist) posters here who will support anyone who promises them guns, military aggression and swift retribution against transgressors (actual, potential or contrived) [You don't understand, they killed my dog!!] politicians have always counted on a sizable percentage of ideologically narrow voters.

I suspect the choice will draw some number of voters who want a woman (any woman) elected to the White House. What that number will be, we shall soon see.

Damn you show alot of respect for women eh?

Is there anything else about her being hot looking, conservative, a gun owner, educated, and successful, that you find repulsive?

This choice was only peripherally aimed at the Clinton voters. Fundamentally its goal was twofold: 1) cement McCain's support among the Republican base, and 2) counteract the Democrats' McCain/Bush linking by reinforcing McCain as being a bold maverick willing to buck conventional wisdom. Those two objectives are essential for McCain to have any kind of shot at winning and the Palin pick was brilliantly targeted at both of them. It didn't hurt to inject some excitement into a "dull as paint drying" campaign either.

It might not win the election but, unless he wanted to give up the base completely (by picking Powell or Rice for example), it was the best choice possible.

Those jobs do not compare to the experience of running the country -- running a state does.

Alaska has a population smaller than dozens of US cities, and thanks to oil revenues actually sends money to its citizens, rather than having to tax them. Hardly a challenge to run.

a rough analogy to Sarah Palin would be Sheila Dixon, major of Balitmore, Maryland.

Balitimore and Alaska have almost the same population.
Both are women.
Both assumed office only about 20 months ago.
Both are relatively young

Smaller differences: Socio-economic problems in Baltimore are likely a lot more difficult than in Alaska, and Dixon is a bit older with a number more previous public offices.

What would be the talk if Obama (or any other Dem Nominee) would have picked Dixon as VP?? Regardless of Dixon's credentials this would have been a very bizarre thing to do.

Another difference: As opposed to his opponent McCain is 72 with various health problems - so the competence of the VP to become the leader of the free world is really a non-trivial consideration.

Cheers, T
