California: Ammo Purchase Permit

Recommended Posts

News:
California gun owners face further harrassment

The California Assembly is considering a bill (Assembly Bill 2062) this session that, if passed, will have dire consequences for California's law-abiding gun owners.

AB2062 would require that law-abiding gun owners obtain a permit to buy handgun ammunition and would impose severe restrictions on the private transfers of handgun ammunition. Applicants for a "permit-to-purchase" would be required to submit to a background check, pay a $35 fee, and wait as long as 30 days to receive the permit.

Under AB2062, it would be unlawful to privately transfer more than 50 rounds of ammunition per month, even between family and friends, unless you are registered as a "handgun ammunition vendor". The bill would also require vendors to keep a record of the transaction including the ammunition buyer's name, driver's license, the quantity, caliber, type of ammunition purchased, and right thumbprint, which would be submitted to the Department of Justice. All ammunition sales in the State of California would be subject to a $3 per transaction tax. Lastly, mail order ammunition sales would be prohibited...

Let's see now. It's a violation of a guaranteed Constitutional right to have to get a free ID card to present when you vote.

However, it is NOT a violation of a guaranteed Constitutional right to make a $35 tax on the right to purchase ammunition?

My wife is hotter than your wife.

What a crock. What's next? Will CA require their citizens to get a permit to take a poop since the poop is bad for the enviroment?

shhhhh - don't give them ideas

And, frankly, your idea isn't well thought out, some people have moms that would then be unable to afford to poop. It would just be an attempt by Bush and his septic industry buddies to only let the rich poop while making the poor and elderly explode every 9 days

Mabye reload....

They'll probably want a permit to buy reloading supplies. And that would be only if you can find the components inside the state. Since mail order purchases outside the state would be illegal, that's going to be tough, as it excludes just about all the big reloading suppliers.

or drive to Colorado?

Illegal smuggling! Will they set up border checkpoints for searches? Achtung!

when the city of LA tried similar legislation, they remembered the reloading element.

Fortunately, so far such attempts at gun bans have failed. I'd like to think enough people realize the consequences of making gun practice handling expensive.

Sounds typical of the State of Kali-fornia, once again leading the nation with newer and stupider ideas. As a Kali resident, I have nothing but contempt for the state in general (the state govt, that is). They're always trying to tell us what to do in five different languages and then scolding us for how many trees had to die in order to mail the latest multi lingual edict.

Sounds like the legislature just got a fresh sheet of blotter acid (again...).
