When you are consistently leading the way and on top, people grow tired of you. Think of it in a sport analogy. How many people got tired of the Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees?

who gives a fuck about the cowboys or yankies exept texans and new yorkers?

Anyone else sick of it?

Yes, the present administration has made some poor choices and gotten us into some trouble, but the general bashing of America and the people is starting to irritate.

Anyone should be smart enough to see that the majority of Americans did not like where the country was headed, hence the recent elections. So chill with the bashing, OK?

Not at all.

The US govenment has spent the last 5 years decimating 2 nations.

It is responsible for the deaths of thousands and thousands of men women and children.

It has sponsored torture.

It holds peple without charge.

It violates peoples human rights and breaks the rules laid out in the GC.

And whilst doing all this it was re-elected.

The bashing is not enough. The administration should be strung and the idiots that voted for them sent for compulsory education in world affairs and banned from evet voting again.

I got to agree with this. To worry of the semantics when there are a couple troops that raped and murdered that 14YO girl and her family, well, let me weigh it out...... bash America ... or ... bash the few troops that behave this way as they represent America? Although these few troops don't represent all or virtually all the troops, they are representing America, so for someone to bash us on an illegal action after we've thumbed our noses at the GC and world courts, can you really blame them? Again, to me it is semnatic to worry about it, let's fix the problems and then the bashing will stop, like it did under CLinton for the most part.

Are you Kidding? your technology is inefficient, your public sevices are third world and who gives a fuck about the cowboys or yankies exept texans and new yorkers?

Yep, especially the part about public services. That is where more bashing should come from within. There are people insured by our fascist corporations, have a major illness and denied coverage and allowed to die and people aren't petitioning in the streets. This country is real Darwinism wrapped in a facade of ultra-humanity.

Most country's have 100% paid medical, here we sometimes refuse to pay for care after someone is insured.... what a fuckin joke.

I see Mexican immigration increasing, European immigration decreasing and emmigration increasing as well. If things keep going, the composition of America will look like something from Monarchical times of past. Then the Russkies can laugh that our monetary system doesn't work either.

Me too, it was prety sharp of him to steal the operating system off Apple and change into the windows operating system, IBM thought there was no money in the operating systems at the time.

that was stupid.

That's what I mean, it's a barbaric 'survival of teh fittest' mentality here, so when someone kills people in the act of pecuinary gain, how is that not in line with our capitalist system? It's gross and I can't understand how people don't see it, then I realize that most people have traveled very little.

And yet, you want to give billions to the gov't for "free medical"... lovely.

Here's a few thoughts on that from an emigre' from one of those "social utopias" you love so much

The enlightened city of San Francisco has voted itself free health care for all residents, regardless of employment or immigration status.

Once again, we have evidence that 90% of the population doesn't have the faintest clue about basic economic principles, and that 90% of the population has no problem checking "yes" on a ballot that promises them Free Government Stuff.

You cannot legislate yourself free stuff out of thin air, of course, and the city plans to finance this universal health care system through employer contributions and an "income-adjusted premium". This means that the business owners (the greedy plutocrats) and the working citizens of San Francisco (the economically advantaged) will have to foot the bill for not only their own health care, but everyone else's as well. Such an idea is not new, but the results of such "universal health care" programs have been uniformly similar: financial collapse of the system. In Tennessee, we have TennCare as a shining example, and I do not expect the City by the Bay to fare any better--the laws of economics are the same everywhere, regardless of how progressive the local population may deem itself.

Look at it in familiar terms: your neighborhood supermarket. You know exactly how much you're paying for your groceries every month, and you usually limit your shopping to essential stuff (with the occasional indulgence thrown in), because at the end of the visit, you need to swipe your debit card and have the money for your shopping cart contents sucked out of your account.

Now imagine a system where your city decides that everyone can shop for free, and that the grocery tabs are all collected and paid for by a grocery tax levied on the local business owners and everyone in your city who makes an actual wage. Fantastic, right? The next time you go to the supermarket, you get whatever the hell you want, and a few things you don't even want or need, because the dreaded card swipe at the end of the transaction has been eliminated. Your natural motivation for moderation and limiting of consumption, self-interest, has been removed as a fail-safe device, and it instead becomes your primary motivator for abuse of the system. Furthermore, your increased consumption combined with that of your neighborhood's are sure to drive up the cost of groceries and decrease their availability. The final stab in the back for the system is the fact that not only the non-payers load up their carts, but also the tax-paying folks that actually finance the system, because they want to make sure they "get their money's worth" out of it.

What's worse, the availability of "free" health care combined with the "free" living expenses (welfare, food stamps, etcetera) greatly decrease the incentive to be one of the taxed, and greatly increase the incentive to be one of the freeloading beneficiaries. If you do not have to work to get groceries and surgery, then a lot of people will make the conscious choice not to work. Hunger and pain are powerful motivators to leave the house in the morning and spend eight hours a day on something other than watching TV and playing Xbox, and when you remove the negative repercussions of a moocher's existence, you actively encourage more people to take up that career.

To be certain, there are people who can neither work nor afford health care, but most of the people in that particular category are already either on disability, Social Security, or another form of public assistance.

Usually, I hold conservatives in about the same esteem as I do Socialists, but at least the right-wingers occasionally have a clue when it comes to economics. Socialist paradises like SF are entertaining in that they believe the only reason such Ponzi schemes have failed in the past is because the right people haven't been in charge yet.

Here's my prediction for SF: they'll have month-long waiting lists for doctor's visits and year-long waiting lists for surgeries within two years, their Universal Health Care will go bankrupt within ten years, and then they'll scream for the state of CA and/or the federal government to bail them out...and stick all of us with the bill for their "free" doctor's visits.

NOPE.. try again....

BOTH Apple and Microsoft took the original idea of the GUI and mouse device from XEROX.. when XEROX did not want to persue developing it farther.

If you are going to try to bash one.. you should try to bash the other as well.

On a personal note.. Steve is far more of an asshole than Bill is.

Actually. The mousy clicky operating system WAS developed by Xerox and they tried to sell it to IBM and they didn't want it Apple purchased it and developed the macintosh. Bill Gates approached Apple and said he wanted to work with them as thier product was better as he had already been producing operating systems for IBM. Apple gave him two Macs before they even put them on the market and thats how Bill got the operating system. He tweaked it into windows and then sold it separate to the computers. and was the richest man in the world within a few years.

Egh? America's got a foreign policy? When did that happen?:P

It's really funny in retrospect to read this rubbish:

www.aei.org/publications/pubID.15845/pub_detail.asp

Well, the humor has to be tempered with the realization that the Bush Doctrine has cost thousands of lives, $(hundreds of Billions), has made the US look impotent at the hands of a rag-tag bunch of radicals, and has not actually achieved any goal.

The original TV line was regarding Mr. Phelps. Mr. Phelps played the bad guy in the MI movie, but he was the star of the TV series which aired from '66 to '73
