L&B Quattro vs Optima

Recommended Posts

I am looking for an audible to use for CP jumps. Looking at the L&B website it indicates that both have canopy alarms but implies that the Optima is better suited for swooping? Are the Quattro canopy alarms good to for swooping as well?

Quattro has 4 freefall alarms. Optima II has 3 freefall alarms.

Quattro has a freefall "Track Guide". Optima II does not.

Optima II has canopy "Swoop Guide". Quattro does not.

Both have 3 canopy descent, and 3 in the plane, warnings.

Optima II has its LCD/LED version (not water resistant). Quattro does not.

Normal Optima II and Quattro are both water resistant.

So, Optima II is better for swooping. Quattro is better for Big-Ways.

You can also check Protrack II.

What is the "swoop guide" that the Optima has?

Additional (many) beeps between second and third under-the-canopy warnings. Useful for swoopers to give them heads up that the third warning is coming closer and closer. It is like a 'corridor' of beeps.

Find some on You Tube from the swooper's POV, and you will know what I am talking about :-). bDifficult to explain on paper :-).
