Brokeback mountain...

The funniest thing about any rodeo is the fun event such as when the kids compete in the calf scramble. One little guy in Houston several years ago got his jeans ripped off by one of the calves. the audience was just in a roar of laughter.

One of the IGRA events is when a guy and a gal chase after a sheep to put a pair of underwear on the sheep. It is funny as hell. Other than that fun event it is pretty much a real rodeo with saddle bronc riding, calf ropin etc.

Also, what is a MsTer? (from their site: IGRA has four positions of titled Royalty: Mr. IGRA, Ms. IGRA, Miss IGRA and MsTer IGRA.)[:/]

Making a guess since I haven't been able to visit the site, given the context, it looks like they're using Mster as an abbreviation of "Master," which is a formal address for a boy age 13 or younger. It's out of date (the only people I've ever seen actually use it is my grandmother and Miss Manners), but they may be using it to indicate the age of the person being addressed. Rare to see it abbreviated like that, though. Now, "MSTer" usually has something to do with MST3K.

I bet a gay cowboy with a good clench could outride any straight cowboy on a standard saddle. :D

Hey . . . that's cheating! :D

Besides, good luck to ANYONE who tries to use their ass to stay in a saddle.

I will take you to the hospital..or just laugh uproariously. I haven't decided yet.
Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

Actually, I am more inclined to think it is a version of Ms. for Mister. Which makes no sense because there are not different terms for a single vs married man.

I was thinking it was referring to master, because they have a separate title for "Ms" and "Miss". I was guessing that Mr. is the counterpart to Ms., and Mster the counterpart to Miss. No way to know for sure, without emailing them and asking.

If you wanna know what gay rodeo is all about, the IGRA has an event in Austin every year. I think also in Dallas but I'm not sure.

San Antonio has/had no such thing. Of course, we all know San Antonio is THE place for PROFESSIONAL rodeo and is also where THE cowboys and vaqueros lived, unlike all those yankee wannabees up north and in the gay-ass Rockies. :P

:D

No honey, they're using that title to denote transsexual/transgender peeps. Look at the abbrevation a bit HARDER.

:D

Brokeback Mountain doesn't accurately describe what one is going to see when they go to the theatre. It sounds like it's going to be a good Western. It should be called something like Split Cheek Creek or something like that. Then you'd know what you were in for. :D

Getting back to the rodeo aspect of the movie and peoples comments about the IGRA:

Several years ago I was flying (LIT-IAH) on a Continental Express ATR42 back from West Tennesee Skydiving's Halloween Boogie. I did not know that the IGRA Rodeo Finals was being held in Little Rock. My side of the plane had all these cowboys and one lone cowgirl. The flight also had a gay flight attendant. It seemed like most of the straight passengers were sitting on the right side of the aircraft. These rodeo guys and gal were just cutting up and joking all the way to Houston enroute to their connection to SLC and having a good time with Armando the flight attendant. He just brought a bunch of drinks to the left side of the plane and gave them a bag of those wafer cookies which they threw over the seats to their friends. The flight was a 1 hour comedy riot and the cowboy who was sitting behind me would sink lower in his seat after everyone of his friend's jokes or antics. I believe the folks on the right side of the plane couldn't believe what was going on.

Naturally all this took place prior to 9/11 as I doubt you could have so much fun on a boring commuter flight today.
