Other than a Mirage RSL to an older Mirage G4?

So, it's springtime for the half of us and the best time for getting spares for your rig.
It's just a what if type of question: any RSL's out there with velcro that'll work?

can you be more specific? the only lanyard you can legally use is what mirage supplies. TSO compliant and all that. As for the risers, you can use any that have an rsl ring on the proper side... this is all assuming the rig is fitted with the velcro/channel and the double rings on the reserve top flap.

Jep, rig itself is RSL ready and so are the risers (Mirage). My problem is that RSL lanyards with velcro are difficult to come by. Even Chutingstar is out of stock.

I wish I had seen this sooner as I was in the factory today getting a demo of their trap system. As always the manufacturer is the best source of info and I'm sure they'd be happy to make one for you.

granted mirage may have different views, but if there is an rsl, its function has to be tested and approved. I specifically remember seeing a tso label on my wifes mirage rsl lanyard... there was actually a discussion a while back where people were arguing you had to use the rsl and not remove it because it would make the assembly not what was tso tested.... i may be missing details but that was the gist of it...

In reference to Sunpath having gone bizarrely strict on RSL's:

The Javelin was C23c Cat B for everything approximately before Oct. 2001, after which the design was recertified C23d. So the situation will be different than for Mirage's C23b.

Javelin's latest TSO is C-23d (issued 1994), which requires testing of an RSL during required breakaway testing.

Two very different certification standards.

Mirage will send you one. Ask your dealer. We are a dealer and I just ordered a velcro RSL a couple weeks ago. No problem.

As long as the replacement RSL is the same length (as the original) it is easy for a Master Rigger to sew on a piece of Velcro.
Hint: it helps if he can copy a genuine Mirage RSL's stitch pattern.

Sometimes a Master Rigger can substitute an RSL from another manufacturer, but that raises a whole bunch of compatibility questions.
