I did my first tandem

Recommended Posts

I am a paraplegic and did my first tandem jump at skydive Temple on the 20th. I say first, because we already bought my 2nd jump.

My tandem master was awesome and I loved every second of it.

It was an AMAZING rush and I know without a doubt I would be working on my AFF if I were able-bodied but I am quite nervous to do so considering my paralysis.

I saw a youtube video of one other paralyzed female jupr and my husband suggested I sign up and post here to find her. (he's just finished his AFF course and now jumping to complete his Class A license)

Fun hey,

You are looking for gimpboogie my understanding is that she is no longer jumping anymore due to some injuries.

There are a few people I know that jump as para's myself, gimpboogie, Dale elliott and Jarrett Martin (packing_jarrett)

I would recommend getting in a wind tunnel first if you can, if you are a complete para you are going to have to have some modifications done to a jump suit and may have to wear braces (see Dale elliott)

It will take longer to get jumping solo but can be done and its so worth it.

Congratulations!!

ANYTHING is possible! You will need to think things through carefully with the help of your instructors. gimpboogie and dale elliot have a few videos you can watch to get an idea of what worked for them. You may need to modify those things to best suit you. We all do things a bit different so find what works for you.

I like to do things my own way like this:

Welcome to the skies!

Like Lonnie said, we all do things a little differently, so take your time to see what works for you.
Read this forum, back several pages you will see posts from Dale Elliott, Pookie, myself and others.

The tunnel is a great starting place especially for those of us who had never been skydiving prior to paralysis.

Cherish your dreams, and turn your vision into reality ;)

Best wishes, and may the pursuit of the blue skies bring you on a wonderful journey of discovery.
