scotts 0 #1 December 29, 2007 Hey all, Had my left foot crushed at work, 11/21/07. Wound up with it being amputated thru the ankle 2 weeks ago. This had been my first 'hundred jump season' since 2002, but my goal this year was to reach 500 jumps before the season was over here in NY and i'm happy to haved reached it. No idea when i'll be getting back in the air, but i'm looking forward to it already.
BillyVance 34 #2 December 29, 2007 Sounds great! Are you getting a prosthetic foot to replace the one you lost? There are lots of threads and posts on here about the Pieces Of Eight, the Amputee Skydiving group. You can do a search and reach out to some of them. Gawain 0 #4 December 30, 2007 Do you still have your full tib-fib, amputated distally at the ankle? Hey, at least you still have a knee, those make all the difference in lower limb amputations...akin to a paper cut. Just joking man. I'm a left AK, and am happy to inform you that you aren't going to have too much of a problem getting back in the air, just make your physical therapist earn their pay and stay in the lead with your recovery. Get linked up with ACA and find out as early as you can any "gaps" that may exist in any insurance coverage, etc. Sorry to read of your injury, but the only limitations you encounter will be those put in place by yourself. Recover well...that's better than "recover fast". So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light!
