Fall0ut 3 #1 October 7, 2015 Hi, has anybody customized his/her Cookie G3 helmet using hydro dipping? The shell has to be stripped from everything for dipping and I am a bit concerned about the removal of the visor mechanism and the glued in fabric at the chin & chinstrap. How did you do it? asphaltpussy 0 #2 October 7, 2015 You have to remove everything in order to dip it without messing up your liner. therefore just rip it off and use a hot glue gun later on to put it back on. You also have to undo the bartack on the chinstrap in order to take of the buckle. http://www.cgskustoms.com/ did dozens for us in Eloy and is the official place where cookie get's theirs dipped.R&D Firebird USA Skyventure Arizona Instructor Eloy, AZ
Fall0ut 3 #3 October 7, 2015 Thanks for your response! What's the best way for "ripping out" the chin liner without damaging it? Just brute force?
asphaltpussy 0 #4 October 8, 2015 grab the pading as close to the glue as possible. I preped at least 20 helmets and never damaged the padding. some say you can heat it up, others say put it in the fridge to make the glue super soft or super hard. i just slowly peeled it out. .R&D Firebird USA Skyventure Arizona Instructor Eloy, AZ
Fall0ut 3 #5 October 9, 2015 Alright, sounds doable! Anything important to know about the removal of plates and springs for the visor? Or just unscrew everything and it comes off?
