Flysight and wireless headphones

I just got a flysight recently and I hate having to deal with wired headphones. Do wireless work well and what kind do you recommend? Obviously needs to be low profile to fit underneath a helmet.

The only wireless headphones/headsets I know of are bluetooth. There are bluetooth transmitters out there, so you could potentially go that route. I'd put the BT transmitter on the inside of the helmet (if you have room) so it doesn't stick out and snag anything - and then pair it with some headphones. I haven't done it, but I suppose if you wanted to ditch the wire from your helmet to your head it's possible. Probably looking at around $70 or so for both if you price shop.

Could there not be lag using a wireless setup?
The thing with the FlySight is to get feedback as you do changes.
Having a smal lag in the feedback could be confusing.

Or maybe they are lagfree? Don't know.


But I don't mind the wires. I have my earphones taped to the helmet and never take them of.
If I don't use the earphones I just hide them behind the foam inside the helmet

Bear in mind that if you go the Bluetooth route, you'll also need to plug an adaptor of some sort into the FlySight itself and you'll have two extra pieces to charge (the adaptor and the remote speaker). A simpler solution may be to install motorcycle helmet speakers in your helmet. I've had some success even with cheap speakers like these:

The main thing is to make sure that the speakers use a stereo jack. Some speakers use a mono jack, but this is not compatible with FlySight--it will short out the contacts and can cause damage.

I have a different reason for using Bluetooth aside from "wirehate": wireless is the only option when using L/D Magic's audio feedback with iPhone mounted on a vane (see https://vimeo.com/108326309 and https://vimeo.com/108428363 to get the idea). I tried a wireless headset and closed-ear headphones with no avail - they simply did not provide enough volume to be heard in freefall. So, I've got the following setup:

1) August MR220 Bluetooth Audio Receiver ($10)
2) FiiO E6 Fujiyama Portable Headphone Amplifier ($26)
3) Koss 'The Plug' In-Ear Headphones ($10)

This works. I can hear it in freefall just fine. The Koss headphones are cheap yet have very good isolation. (Next I'll try separated closed-ear headphones with this setup to reduce the hassle of putting the helmet on.) The receiver and amplifier are small boxes that should fit inside most of helmets under the foam or in audible pouch.

Anyway, since I've spent some time, money, and frustration on finding what works, I thought I'd share.

If anyone finds a combined compact Bluetooth receiver-amplifier, please post. OR, if you know any Bluetooth headphones that can be very loud and be heard in freefall, in which case the whole setup above is not needed.
