Okay, first it's all the kiddie singers and bands...now toons!?

Speaking of "toon" bands...Hey Pammi, are you too young to remember "The Archies"??? They were a Saturday morning cartoon band whose songs actually got played on the radio! They had a song called "Sugar Sugar".
And as for little snotnose twerps bitching about "old school" and saying crap like, "That was so five minutes ago!"
I've decided my favorite music is caveman music! YEAH! A buncha guys sitting around a fire bangin' on some rocks with sticks and bones! Singing about their last mammoth hunt!! Now that's REAL music! None of this crap with "stringed instruments" and "chords" and "harmonies"!! I mean, let's get back to basics! Next time you're standing around the campfire drunk at the DZ, pick up some sticks and rocks and start a caveman jam! This could be the next "retro" thing....

Hey, who sings the rock song where the chorus goes like this:
"I like a girl with a short skirt, and a loooooooooong jacket"
I heard it for the first time the other day and thought it was so cool!
Andrea
hmmm, thinking of a new tag...any suggestions?

The band is Cake. The song is "Short Skirt, Long Jacket". The video is weird since they just go around interviewing people who are listening to the song for the first time. They mainly picked people who would not like the music to inter view.
Do I HAVE to do another raft dive??? :)

Love that "Are You Breathing Now" song

Pammi
Listen to the song about 1:30sec and it's "Nysync you will die if you listen to me" he says it twice it's just too funny... unless your a "boy band" fan *shrugs* I would think if your listening to Disturbed then your not listening to Nysync or the BackDoorBoys....

YES! I knew there had to be some people out there with taste... Sex Pistols, Talking Heads... any fans of the Pixies out there?
Saw Weezer live early this year... WOW, what a show, that's damn good music. I have pretty eclectic tastes though, classic rock is always good, and grunge, early punk and alternative, heavy metal, progressive rock, good stuff like that. Jazz and blues are great. If I'm in the right mood I can really enjoy classical.
But I gotta toss my opinion in here... hip hop, dance, techno... bleah. I want to be able to appreciate music. I cannot appreciate dance music, it's all the same--sure, it's perfect if you're at a rave, on shrooms and ex--but that's all it's made for. I cannot appreciate hip hop, there's no musical stimulation in it, at least for me... yeah, again, it's got a beat you can move to. Big whoop. I've tried and can't find anything aesthetic about it... people seem to listen to hip hop as more of a popular image thing than anything else.
"I know a thing or two about Goo... she won't mind if I tell you..."

I'm more of a rock fan than rap and hip hop, but still there are some of these rap and hop hip songs that aren't THAT bad.
My personal favourite is Bon Jovi (drroooollliiiinnnnggg:P)
But then there's Offspring, Lincoln Park, Matchbox 20, Luciano Pavarotti (just kidding), Deff Leopard, and al kinds of techno, alternative, basically anything as long as it's good.

Marc,
And this goes to everyone;
Rock is good, GREAT!, but every once in a while dance is good. Sheee.., call it hip-hop, trance, tecno, whatever. Electronic Music is good stuff! Lords Of Acid, Aphrodite, DJ Die, Dj Spooky, Check 'em out! And to all others who like whatever, I could go on and on with what I like. But, I think I have a different view on Rock than most.
It's all good! Listen to what you like, and try to respect the rest. Music is a very personal thing.
And as for The Gorillas,
There're good. I think they're Japanese, and all interviews I have heard have made absolutely NO sense in English. But, they're OK. Don't worry about your kids listening to them, I don't think.
Plus, their songs are goofy as hell!
"Son, you've got a panty on yer head!"

The guy who is the lead singer is Damon Albarn - ex lead singer of Blur, but he never really made much sense before gorrilaz so you're right there!
you're spot on about the goofiness though - videos are quite funky too

No musical stimulation, oh dear. Only made for shroomin + plus whatever, oh dear., can't appreciate it, oh dear. Shame your missing out on alot of good music, especially lyrically. BTW- Punk and hip hop scene was synomomous with each other in the states when it was first born- Headz back then realised how much the extremes had in common. What are you gonna do when music becomes even more intergrated (now theresa loads of croosovers from styles, how many of the new rock bands have djs, scrachin. How many in hip hop are using live bands- soon the genres blur)
Enjoy your music and don't dis others. Party and party hard.
Rooftops and sunsets
PS- What would be your all time favourite jump music, music you could jump to.

ROFL! We used to say something like that when I was a kid. "I'm just gonna go eat worms and die!" Except, you're supposed to suck out the guts after biting his head and tail off :) hehe
I remember the Archies! Granted I'm pretty limited as to what I *do* remember because we didn't have cable out in the boondocks! I didn't even see MTV until I was 16! We had that whole "the President's on!" thing....three channels and when he came on, it was on every damn one! Time to go riding the horses!
