I've been told they are the same motors off of the same assembly line, with different manufacturer logos added later. I have the same motor with no manufacturer info whatsoever. It's been on my 217N for over a year and works great.

Terry,
The 550 is great for the lighter sewing machines that you may use for patching and general purpose. I have about a dozen or so that I have replaced with these.

The CS1000 is great for the walking foot and double needle sewing machines. The one feature that is great on this model is the ability to set the "ramp up" or start up speed. You also have the overall top speed adjustment.

As far as the extra heavy duty machines (like a Class 7 or 144W) , I would stick with the clutch motors. The inertia of the flywheel is hard to beat for these machines.

You can also try this guy:

They are all the same motors with different name plates as stated before.
