It was the best and worst of times....

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! Sorry I've been so elusive. I haven't been here for over a week and have 3500 new posts to read!
So... I went running with the bulls at Crosskeys over Memorial Day weekend. 23 jumps!!!! Way to come back, eh? 2 jumps with Mike Swanson and 1 with Rook Nelson. Those guys are AMAZING! I also got to jump with Heath and Bert from Monkey Claw as well as some other really kick-ass freefliers. Sweet weekend! Had tons of fun... even rode the mechanical bull!!!! Knee was screaming at me on Monday about that but hey - when do you get an opportunity like that?! Got to meet trouble... er, I mean Stacy. Awesome chick!
On a sad note.... We lost a friend on Monday. Seth Karp of Team Jetstream passed away from a hard landing. I don't know all the details and I don't want to post hearsay cause I didn't see it. But he was so sweet and wonderful to me. Jetstream let me stay in their team room so I wouldn't have to sleep in my car every night and Seth and I were just laughing together that morning. Love you Seth!

I am so happy to hear you got back in the air - and in a big way too! You rock girl! :)My deepest condolences to all who knew and loved Seth.
Between John in Florida, Seth in NJ, the very lucky jumper in Chicago, the jumper who femured himself in in Eloy and another jumper in Missouri who spiraled in and busted himself up (heard about him today from one of my customers)... and those are just the ones I've heard about... it wasn't a very safe weekend for skydivers in the US. Please everyone - be safe up there.

What a hard post to respond to.
On one hand, I want to run, shouting YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY Dovie flies again!
And on the other hand, I want to send my most sincere condolences to Seth and his family and firends - Godspeed, blue skies, and big white puffies....

Congrats Dove!!! That knee will get better with a little time. You were kinda hard on it for your first weekend back. :)Please be careful out there. I know I did at least one incredibly stupid thing last weekend. I got lucky......lets not push our luck !

Congrats, Dove!
And, Blue Skies to Seth, and much love to the guys on team Jetstream. The few times I got to talk to Seth, he impressed me as a great guy who was really nice and a lot of fun.

Blue skies, Seth. My condolences to his friends, family, & teammates.
I got a couple of jumps in this past Saturday at Cross Keys. Including my first out of a Skyvan. What a weird little contraption. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay for the party, but I did get to see all the topless girls with body paint on out on the back deck in broad daylight. Now that was a treat.

Glad to hear about your recovery, and terribly sad to hear about yet another jumper going in.
I know we are all aware of the risks we take in this sport, but please try to take an extra moment before each jump to make sure that your gear and your dive plan are in the best condition possible to get you home safely.

Sadly, it seems like the Eloy jumper is a whole lot more serious then I'd previously heard. Aparently he's still in a coma with major spinal and back injuries. See the thread here
Lets all send our thoughts his way.
