I am starting to get pissed

Recommended Posts

I posted this about 2 hours ago but I dont think it took?
I am starting to get pissed at all of our friends dying. I am sure that we see an increase b/c we have ALOT more people here and they are posting about the local events but PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE be careful out there!
I dont care if you have ONE jump and see something that looks lilke it may be a mishap in the making. SAY SOMETHING!
look out for yourselves and every jumper on you load. we all know that the woman will get checked out(repeatedly) but look out for your brothers too.
I probably bug alot of ppl when I get on the plane.
when I was in Australia I noticed the load organizer got on the Otter with his chest strap undone. I know he probably knew about it but I got hisattention BEFORE he even sat down and pionted it out. he kinda made a face(as to say "NO SHIT") but he did thank me.
My point being, If I woulda kept my mouth shut I know fate woulda turned out differently. Not because he was unsafe but b/c thats my luck. I would rather look like a fool then feel like an accomplice to a fellow skydivers injury or death! the worst thing you could do to another skydiver is ASSUME they know something. when It comes to safety,I would rather be treated like a dummy then thought of as a statistic.
My condolences to everyone who lost someone!:(
Life's a bitch, and I'm her Pimp!

Yes be safe, and be knowledgeable. Those of you with HP canopies with low jumps, make sure you know what your doing, and put your pride in the back seat. Our sport is lacking some serious canopy training, and a lot of knowledge is missing out there. Until we get canopy schools out there we must seek the information ourself. A task that requires much dedication.

AMEN jtval!!!!
[IMHO]
We ALL need to adopt a couple of golden rules to always keep in mind while participating in this sport we so love:
1. We ARE our brother and sister keepers.
2. If you see something on the way to the plane, on the ride to altitude, even one's attitude on the ground, and it just doesn't seem right or safe to you, or gives you any bit of doubt, say something!!!!!
Re: #2
What's the worst thing that could happen? You could be wrong? No....the worst thing is that we could possibly lose another brother or sister because none of us wanted to say anything to them.
PLEASE don't worry that you might offend someone (they shouldn't be offended by it but instead be appreciative that you've said it out of concern for them) or if you're the one that is being questioned don't be offended, instead take a second look and thank them.
When said respectfully your comment about something that didn't look quite right, at the very least will make hopefully make that person stop , look again, and think twice about a particular aspect of their gear, their ability, or even their skydiving awareness that they might have mistakenly overlooked before heading running out to the plane.
When we are consistanly throwing our bodies at the earth from 2 miles above. This practice is not really a bad thing!
[/IMHO]
Regardless of what number of jumps I might have at any given time I personally will never get pissed off or offended when a fellow jumper with 100 jumps or less asks if they can give me a 'pin check'. Instead I will ask them what they saw and thank them with a smile and handshake. The life they save could my own.
My thoughts, prayers, and condolences go out to all of our brothers and sisters and their loved ones that we've lost in the last few weeks.
