wingnut 0 #1 June 12, 2002 yup, the wingnut half way round the country road trip was completed on sunday morning about 1am mountain time.... i left florida on the 3rd of june and started driving.....made it to houston that night and stayed in a shity motel in almeda (never stay at the almeda inn...i think you can rent by the hour there) i showed up at skydive spacleand and met some people...not one dz.comer though!!!! :-( found a very atractive jumper to help me put my toggles on my newly relined canopy...her name was kat..made a jump and watched the tm's mess with this chick.. it was funny...they had her convinced she was going to fall out of her harness if she didn't hold on to the shoulder straps durring deployment....funny......landed and then had to leave..had to get to del rio,tx to pick up my motorcycle...got into del rio about midnight on the 4th....went to dinner with my uncle and then went to sleep...next day a short 150 mile drive back to san antonio to see jess!!! went to my friend craig's house and hung out for a while.. i was stationed with craig in germany, so it is nice to have friends across the country....went out drinking with jess and craig at "la tuna"....yup we drank at the tuna..it was a pretty cool place...even if it was sorta in the gehtto (i'm from small town america, it was the gehtto to me!) bar closed down and we went out seperate ways.. i left sheppy with craig to give to jess. hopefully sheepy will make the 5 minute drive from my friends house to jess's soon...left outa s.a. on thursday afternoon bound for skydive dallas....got in there around 8:30pm and went and found freaksister!!!! she rocks....she introduced me to alot of people and i got to meet perry her b/f..he's a cool guy...he let me stay in his trailer that night at the dz...hell, that trailer had a/c in it it was cool!!!! andi couldn't resist so i made some jumps on friday and stayed over at sis's house and they grilled out and i had an actuall meal there! then we drank alot of beer and got i got really messed up... i woke up aout 8am when april was telling meto move my van so she could go work manifest..she let me go back to sleep though so i crashed again ad woke up and was on the road about noon. decided i was going to stop near amirillo but when i got there i decided why not just make the rest of the drive...so i kept driving...14 hours i drove....800 miles and i finally made it to colorado springs, colorado....and yes the mardi gras mobile made it all the way and only a little trouble along the way..i had to add 1 qt. of transmision fluid and 2 quarts of oil...and let my brakes coo down once...got stuck in rush hour trafic in: new orlean, houston, san antonio and austin..........saw 53 blown out tire treads on the way, 2 dead dear, 1 dead cat, and 2 dead armadillos, and almost got side swiped once....all in all it was a fun 1800-2000 mile drive.....and my butt only hurt a little so it wasn't bad (welland my left over tylox helped too)....lol....so now i'm goina be heading up to front range skydivers(i thing that's the name of the place in calahan) this sat. in either my van or on my bike......it should be fun.............it only took a little pixie dust to change this mispelling

skycat 0 #4 June 12, 2002 Hey do they have o2 on the plane there, having some breathing problems from all the smoke so I know I'll be needing it if I come down to meet wingie. Oh and from what I've heard is they are another 1000 ft higher...woo hoo....another downsize....ummmm....oh yeah, I just got the hang of 5000MSL *DOAH*
Lindsey 0 #5 June 12, 2002 Sounds like a great trip.... Glad y'all made it safe and sound. I was in Colorado a week ago, and there was a big ol' fire at Canon city, where I had planned to jump. Sounds like it's real nasty out there now. Hope you're able to get up! Peace~LindseyYa' know Smack-water Jack he bought a shotgun'cause he was in the mood for a little con-fron-ta-tion

prepheckt 0 #7 June 12, 2002 yeah they do. FAA regulations make it mandatory to carry oxygen above 14500 (not sure if MSL/AGL) If I remember, the dz is at 6450, and exit altitude is 11000 AGL, so you do the math. Look forward to seeing you there.Blue ones.
skycat 0 #8 June 12, 2002 Maybe I should ask it better. How hard is it to get to the O2, so far I've noticed that although it is on the plane it's a pain to get to. Still debating about heading down there though due to the smoke from the fire. Last thing I need is to have another asthma attack.
prepheckt 0 #9 June 12, 2002 I've never used it, but from what I've heard, it is kinda of a hassle...If you make it, cool, we should do a jump, if not oh well...Blue ones
