Main Canopy packing size

Recommended Posts

My question is......lets immagine to have all the existing canopies in the f world......of size 120.

Which 120 canopy would pack the smallest?

Thank you.

Its just curiosity because I heard lots of people saying that 7cells pack smaller and xbraced pack bigger than semi-elliptical or elliptical....but what is the truth about this?
And if there is a difference is it noticeable?

Thank you

Cross braced velo of course :D

It comes down to which has more material. More ribs, more material, which is why people say 7 cells pack smaller, less ribs. Less cascades in the lineset. cross braces are cross braced, more material clearly. You have lowP type skins too like ZPX and Pulse. If you're looking for a specific model, no clue.

Look at the chart in the back of the Para-Gear catalog.

"Small" should not be your primary selection criteria.

And at that size, the differences are going to be rather minor - just a few cubic inches. So, pick something that you can handle safely, and don't worry about those few cubic inches.

My old crossfire2 129 packed about as large as my Safire2 119.
My Scirocco-77 (9-cell crossbraced, with 4 mini-cells in the three middle cells) packed about as large as a Crossfire2 109.

So of these canopies a crossfire2-120 would pack the smallest.

I demod a Storm 135 once. I don't remember how it filled my container, but my container doesn't fit anything packing larger than the crossfire2-129, so it packs smaller than the crossfire at least.

Aparently the new fabric from earodyne packs 20% less.
You have the right to your opinion, and I have the right to tell you how Fu***** stupid it is.

20% Less than what? In my experience, Aerodyne canopies generally tend to pack fat.

In terms of lowest volume, I would tend to think the PD Pulse with it's low bulk bottom skin would probably take the prize.

From their website, on ZPX

"•Packs 17% smaller than traditional ZP fabrics."

I would tend to think that a fat canopy made from low bulk fabric would still pack fat for a low bulk canopy. Your mileage may vary.

your post makes me laugh.

OK, the canopy that packs the smallest....

Must be a F-111 full eliptical 7cell, with about 4893 jumps on it. :)
