pchapman 261 #4 April 22, 2013 An earlier thread with a mix of advice on how to build (although without having exact manufacturer instructions), and advice on not building them, lest one screw up a critical component that needs dimensional accuracy: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4174511 Take your pick! RIGGER 0 #5 April 24, 2013 Hi Sigma main container closing loops are the UPT in house made as written in the manual. I did my training at UPT few years ago & have a written approval from UPT to mfg. my own sigma loops or my needs with the line I buy from UPT. Because I do made the loops I know that the mfg. process is not simple without an approved & the right training. This loop is a critical item in the system & must be made correct & from the right line & accurate by the drawing / spec. Do not ty to "play" with that - 2 persons are skydiving on that loop !!! Be Safe & BUY the loops from UPT. Cheers
texmex 0 #6 April 25, 2013 Very interesting and I did not know that. The reason I was considering making them is because Ive noticed the ones we buy (not sure from where but I know weve boughtt them from UPT directly) have a considerable difference in length...Even 1/4" makes a considerable difference in closing...I had a small collection going at one point and there was about a 1.1" difference between some of them... Most of them measure slightly shorter than spec... This brings me to wonder, do the "approved" riggers also have approval to sell them in bulk to places like Paragear or does everyone who buys them end up with UPT closing loops no matter who the retailer? Its just really annoying to buy 10 loops and 4 of them are too short or too long.
RIGGER 0 #7 April 25, 2013 I do not know where from you got the loops you got - if they are out of spec. please contact UPT for that. Buy from UPT & NOT from other source - for Sigma V13 they should be 8.5" long as written in the manual. I do not sale the loops I do - it is for my in house use. The UPT's Approval Letter I have states Not For Sale. Cheers
texmex 0 #8 April 25, 2013 Thanks for the info - Micro Sigma's are the same loops correct? Length wise...
