TheBile 0 #1 October 11, 2002 What's the fastest anyone has achieved their Cert A in both timescale and number of jumps ? Has anyone completed it from scratch (with no previous experience) without the need for re-jumping any of the levels ?Gerb I stir feelings in others they themselves don't understand. KA'CHOW ! nacmacfeegle 0 #3 October 11, 2002 I've seen people doing it in like 4 days....But I was like Blue and crawled thru a static line prog, got frustrated and went to a different DZ....In America...and did S/L in about 9 days.. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. bluefingers 0 #5 October 11, 2002 these people are NO fun. Two guys are very keen, but the one's got to pick his g/f up from the airport on sunday morning. The rest say they've got no money, they're working, they've got to do the laundry .... yadda yadda yadda fishpaste ... Kerry
Sinkster 0 #6 October 11, 2002 Since you asked, I graduated from AFF in 6 jumps w/o doing a tandem (i combined 6th and 7th requirements into the 6th jump). 1st jump was AFF 1. 4 of the jumps were done in one weekend. It was pretty tough and mentally exhausting though.
Nick 0 #7 October 11, 2002 I managed to get through AFF with no retakes and in 3 days, that also included 10 mins in the tunnel. Managed to get my consols done in the next 3 days too. Nick Gravity- It's not just a good idea, it's the LAW!
SweCow 0 #8 October 11, 2002 I know there was a guy in -99 who did all seven levels on one day! If you want to know the details I have to get back to you...
ScottishJohn 25 #9 October 11, 2002 I got my A in 8 AFF + 10 Consol jumps last summer. It took a couple of months because I was only jumping at the weekend and the british weather. Although we have had a few people spend an entire week at the DZ and get good weather and managed to bang in all the jumps they needed for A license in about 5-6 days. Also a lot of people manage to complete Aff + 10 jumps at empuria brava or on some other skydiving holiday where the weather is more predictable than what we get here. Galen 0 #11 October 11, 2002 I got through it in 7 jumps, no retakes, but it took over a month. I drove an hour a half several days when the weather sucked only to sit around hoping for a break. Respect the Dolphin
mouth 0 #12 October 11, 2002 I did 4 tandems then AFF in a month. I did tunnel time and repeated level 4 five times all during that month while only jumping on weekends. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit. jncoughlin 0 #13 October 11, 2002 I completed AFF in 7 jumps. Then immediately injured my shoulder (not skydiving) and have been grounded since my graduation jump. The season is almost done here in New England so I'll probably just wait until spring and let the shoulder completely heal. At that point I'll probably have to re-do a few levels for recurrency. evilivan 0 #15 October 11, 2002 I did mine over a Thursday afternoon (3 jumps) and Saturday morning (4jumps) - it rained on the Friday. I did three consols on the Saturday afternoon and I think (?) I had them all completed by the following Friday. I did 10 static lines 3 years before, and I'm sure that helped lessen the fear factor..."If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation." SatchFan 0 #16 October 11, 2002 What's AFF?? Oh shit, you need training to do this skydiving thing?
billvon 2,396 #17 October 11, 2002 >What's the fastest anyone has achieved their Cert A in both > timescale and number of jumps ? Two jumps, one day. Of course, I cheated by doing 9-10 SL jumps first, but it was still nice to get off student status at least at one DZ.
mujie96 0 #18 October 11, 2002 I didn't repeat any levels, but I also took close to a month and a half from first tandem to hop n pop due to weather and budget constraints. I bet if you had sufficient fundage and a nice big flat dz not on an island you oculd do it pretty fast. There's a guy out here whose dad is teaching him and I think he did three solos last weekend. Squeak 17 #19 October 12, 2002 here in Western australia, you have to do 9 AFF jumps then your consoli jumps, which must = 20 (including AFF)You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! weid14 0 #20 October 12, 2002 There was a guy at CK's that did all seven levels with Kruse in one weekend. It was actaully fairly early in the afternoon on Sunday for his level seven too. I wasn't so lucky, learned in the fall in upstate NY, many wind holds. Of course guys that work in the tunnel can complete all the free fall level requirements in 1 jump (of course actaully pulling and landing a canopy is a whole different story! SanDiegoRW 0 #21 October 12, 2002 I did all 7 levels with no repeats on three different days. These days were spread out within about a 10 day period. I had no previous exp. other than a tandem a month prior. I haven't got my A yet, so I'll get back to you on that.....but hopefully really soon. -Kenny
Airhead 0 #22 October 13, 2002 Hey Gerb. Where are you at in your training? I'm STILL trying to get in my next level-AFP#6. Gotta clouded out yesterday.../winds were too strong to let us students jump. So far, I have passed every level on the first try, but #6 make me nervous! 3 more jumps to graduate, and then (hopefully) just 8 more jumps to get the A-license
howardwhite 4 #23 October 13, 2002 For the benefit of us Yanks (who seem to be in the minority on this thread) what's a "consol." How many jumps, what does it get you? HW
TheBile 0 #24 October 13, 2002 Quote [#003366] Where are you at in your training? [/#003366] Hey Lila. I passed Level 3 (barely) on the second attempt but then the weather turned to crap, and so did my finances, so I've been grounded ever since.Good to hear your making such good progress though.Gerb I stir feelings in others they themselves don't understand. Squeak 17 #25 October 14, 2002 At the end of it all you have to have 20 jumps logged, with at least 5 (i think) landed safely with in 25 metres of the target, as well as freefalll manourves your must also demonstrate a set ammount of canopy manourvers. Only 15ish jumps to go till "A" certYou are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing?
