Container weight

Hey all.

Does anyone know the weight of the Mirage G4 (M4) and Vortex II (4) ?

Trying to compare both of them, with all optional rings on and legstrap padding. I heard the Vortex is quite lighter, but I'm double checking.

Anyone?

I sure don't, but my WAG is that the Mirage would weigh more, but no clue by how much.

Most of the weight is in the hardware.
IOW more rings equal more weight.

Since the parachute industry is so fiercely competitive, you will not notice a significant difference in weight between - similarly equipped - Mirages and Vortex and Javelin, etc..

I think all the rigs from various manufacturers are going to weigh about the same. I believe you would be better served picking a container based upon it's fit, functionality and durability, rather than by trying to save few ounces of weight. The lightest rig is not necessarily the best rig for you.

Average empty rig is about 8 pounds, not sure what that has to do with a purchasing decision. An average loaded rig is 22-28 until you get up to the big boy ones which can be 35ish. Canopies are about 8 pounds as well.

I think one would be more apt to notice comfort over the weight difference.

Good luck!
