dragon2 0 #6 June 20, 2012 Quote This requirement is a national standard. According to the standard PD reserve life of no more than 12 years. It's still a requirement. 10 years!? I've only ever had one reserve that young. BTW the latest PD reserve manual states: Quote SERVICE LIFE No specific maximum service life has been determined for this parachute. There are many factors that will effect the ultimate service life of this parachute such as where it is stored and how it is used. For civilian applications, service life is usually based on condition. Quote Fabric permeability must be tested if any of the following events occur: The canopy is completely submerged in water. 25 jumps have been made on the canopy since it was new or last certified. The canopy has been repacked 40 times since it was new. The canopy has an unknown number of jumps, repacks, or there is reason to believe that jumps or repacks were not properly logged. Flight performance appears to be substandard. There are other reasons to believe the fabric permeability may exceed specifications. ciel bleu, Saskia
Nelyubin 0 #7 June 21, 2012 In Russia service life of a spare parachute is limited by departmental normative documents. No more than 12 years. Even if the parachute was made by god.
