e.a.hernandez 0 #1 January 16, 2012 Hi, When doing the recommended once a month cut-away cable cleaning what type of lubrication is it recommended? Is PAM oil ok...??? Is it ok just to wipe it with a piece of cloth without doing any lubrication?? Thanks, Erick
LDiCosimo 0 #2 January 16, 2012 Search results "cutaway cable cleaning" http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=search_results&search_forum=all&search_string=cutaway%20cable%20cleaning&sb=score&mh=25 Many recomend Food Grade Silicon. Ace seems to be a popular brand. Oil based lubes will attract and hold onto dirt, so maybe no PAM. If you go to Deland, Check with Chutingstar Rigging...J or Miki or Nathan should be able to either sell you some or tell where to get it nearby. My reality and yours are quite different. Spray it on a rag, wipe down the cables (cutaway or reserve), and slide the cables back in. It goes on wet, then dries quickly to a very low-friction, non-sticky finish. It doesn't contain any petroleum distillates CRC Industrial Food Grade Silicone. No. 03040 Green 10 oz can will last a long time. A little on a paper towel or rag will do both cables.I'm old for my age.
