CloudyHead 0 #1 July 10, 2011 I'd like to buy my own jumpsuit but I don't even know where to start. How is the fit going to affect my aerodynamics and what are some things to avoid when looking to buy a jumpsuit. Thanks.
NWFlyer 2 #2 July 10, 2011 These are great questions to ask the manufacturer of the jumpsuit you're considering ordering - they've worked with many thousands of skydivers of all shapes and sizes with all kinds of goals in their flying. Generally, though - a tighter fit with slicker fabric will make you fall faster; a looser fit with a heavier/draggier fabric will make you fall slower. Which one is right for you depends a lot on your body shape and weight. Someone who is 200 lbs at 5'8" is going to fall faster naturally than someone who is 200 lbs at 6'5" - those two jumpers will need different suits. So ... give a call to the manufacturer and talk through what your goals are and your shape/size to see what they recommend. And if you're buying a suit for RW (belly) work, don't let anyone talk you into buying one without booties. Yes, they'll cost more money, but they are one of the best tools to have in your RW arsenal."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
