Progression doesn't have to mean smaller and faster, it can mean moving toward a better canopy.

Not sure of exact numbers of jumps per canopy, but around-

Jump 1-36
Nav 280
Nav 260
Nav 240
Spectre 210
Spectre 190
Sabre 190

Bought my own gear
Sabre 170 till about 400 jumps then
Sabre2 150 kept SA 170 for WS
At 700 jumps sold SA2 150
Then bought Nitro/n 150s and Sabre 150
And at 1000 jumps added SA 135 and Nitron 135

Jump whatever main type/size suits my need for a given jump.
50 donations so far. Give it a try.

You know you want to spank it

One can also distinguish between one's regular gear and the stuff one borrowed for a short time to learn to downsize. It can make the "jumped" vs. "owned" lists rather different.

After jumping student Mantas etc, canopies I owned:

Titan (265) -- for 350 jumps before:

At 590 jumps bought Sabre 135 -- for 35 jumps before:

At 775 jumps bought FX 88 at 1.9 WL

But when it came to what was jumped (rather than owned), there were things like:
Sabre 135 at 190 jumps
Jonathan 92 at 205 jumps
FX 88 at 550 jumps

Still there were only 90 jumps on canopies over 1.2 wing loading before jumping the FX 88.

So during the early seasons I might fly the 265 most of the time and borrow a Jedei 120 for a bit of fun in between.

"Downsizing progression" back then basically consisted of two or three jumps on a canopy, to get the hang of the extra speed and more demanding flare, before going down a couple sizes, whether or not changing from a square to elliptical or to a crossbraced canopy.

(Edited to better described the jumped vs. owned issue.)

I think I wrote this somewhere else but:
All numbers approximate - I don't log jumps anymore.

Manta 300-220 until an A
Sil 210 @ 1.19 for 150 jump
Sab2 190 @ 1.31 for 230 jumps
XF2 169 @ 1.48 for 450 jumps

May 2009 - [
Kat 150 @ 1.67 for 80 jumps
Kat 135 @ 1.85 for 20-30 jumps (demo)
Kat 120 @ 2.00 for 20-30 jumps (demo)
Velo 120 @ 2.00 for 20-30 jumps (demo)
] -
Oct 2009

Velo 111 @ 2.19 for 200 jumps and began competing in FLCPA
Currently on a Velo 103 @ 2.36 for ~ 20-30 jumps

The last 2-3 years have been dedicated canopy training and 95% hop and pops - to the point that my DZ gets weirded out when I go to altitude.

All numbers approximate, and this isn't counting demos or borrowed canopies that I might have 10 jumps or so on apiece.

Various student/rental canopies, F-111 200+ sq ft - 50 jumps

PD-190 (owned), Tri 160 (borrowed) - 100 jumps

Sabre 135 - 350 jumps

Sabre 107 - 500 jumps

Stiletto 107 (3 of them) - 3000 jumps

Velocity 90 - 300 jumps

Velocity 103 - 800 jumps

Thats a good advert for staying large. Any reason for the upsizing from 170 to 210?
