If american (USA) politics ONLY impacted on USA, I'd say fine do what you want. But unfortunately it does not.
It has global implications and ramification. SO those in the world you are ewffected by decissions made by YOUR illustrious leader do in fact have a right to respond.

It is very evident that the actions of US politics impact the entire planet. This is the entire reason behind our actions. I daresay, you are continuing to enjoy some benefits from US actions today and in years past.

I am glad to see that there are others here who also share the same opinion that this was purely a political move.

Political move or not.. Our troops needed it. And it could have EASILY gotten Bush killed. JUST LIKE EVERY SOLDIER THERE. He put his ass on the line. That means something to me as a Marine and I KNOW it meant something to the troops in Iraq.

What he did was a good thing..

In short if your not from this country as your profile indiactes, stay out of american politics, I think you would be better off this way.

As soon as the USA stays out of the politics of other nations, I'll stay out of American (USA) politics. Until then, you'll need to keep your Xenophobia in check.:D

I'd say it was a bloody nice thing to do, and if he gets some good publicity out of it then thats just a bonus. For the record, I'm British and don't support the Right, but I can recognise a nice gesture even if it is from someone I oppose politically. There's too much cynicism in the world... :(

"True class" would have been sending the boys and girls home to their families

That would mean the murder of more innocent Iraq civilians (we've already found thousands of bodies in mass graves, isn't that reason enough to stay?!?!?!) and the possible re-induction of Sadam and terrorism.

That's the positive side. The other side of the coin is that our support of your actions make us eligible for all sorts of bad things too.

Not a flame, just a reminder. Supporting the US is not only a benefitial thing - it has real life consequences.

And to anyone saying "you're not American, so stay out of our business" I'll say "sure, as long as you stay out of the business of the rest of the world". Same goes for every nation.

We live in a global society now and decisions have consequences that span national borders. As such, healthy international debate may be in order om certain issues.

You are from Canada, why shoud i even care about your opinion?? WHY should a SOCIALIST from Canada even give a shit. In short if your not from this country as your profile indiactes, stay out of american politics, I think you would be better off this way.

Is that a threat? or did you just wake up on the wrong side of the bed and have some sort of @#^!$ envy issues.

As for Bush, it sure was balls'y to go to Iraq. But I won't go so far to say that it was a class act.

I suspect that this was purely for political gain. With the elections comming up soon, something tells me this was just to secure votes as he is not doing as well as most would like on the home front.

You are from Canada, why shoud i even care about your opinion?? If OUR Commander In Chief wants to visit his troops on Thanksgiving Day WHY should a SOCIALIST from Canada even give a shit?

SHRUB??

Would you happen to mean the small tree that is planted out our front yard?? do tell im very curious about your attempt at american slang!

Im so sick and tired of the liberal left and the rest of the world criticize every move that our PRESIDENT decides to make.

In short if your not from this country as your profile indiactes, stay out of american politics, I think you would be better off this way. This is only my opinion which combined with $2.00 canadian will buy you a cup of coffee.

Dear Canadians and other foreigners, the views stated above do not reflect the views of all Americans, at least not me.

GW's visit, probably mostly political. I never saw anything on the news on how the troops felt - out of their mouths, so I can't say whether they really wanted him there or not and if it was a good thing. From the outside it appears to be a good thing but I'm not in Iraq living in those conditions, surrounded by people wanting to kill you.
Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

This act that Bush did today took balls. The only time Clinton used his balls was when he was receiving the bj from Lewinsky.

You tell 'em!

Does Canada have ANY troops in Iraq?

No, Canada does not have trrops in Iraq because in a smart move (for once!) the Prime Minister decided that he would not send troops unless there was a UN resolution. However to show a continued commitment to the war on terrorism, 2000 more troops were commited to Afghanistan.

Of those troops, 4 were killed in a mine field that was supposdly cleared by american troops and three (?) were killed when two trigger-happy american fighter jets ignored abort orders and dropped a bomb on their heads. The two pilots were acquitted of any wrong-doing and the victim's families have not received any apologies from the US governement. Damn, I'm sure glad we're on the US's side!!!!!!

More "go pills" anyone?

Oh and the NATO supreme commander is a Canadian right now.

Do you ever go through the archives to see what you were writing back in December 2002 - March 2003?

You should. You were wrong on almost everything concerning Iraq, because you believed all the crap the Bush administration was feeding you. I'm surprised you haven't learned better by now.

There are Canadian troups in Iraq, operating under US command mixed in with US forces. Not many, but a few.

More importantly, Canada has a few thousand people on the ground in Iraq training police forces, setting up administrative departments of the government, and other non-military roles.

That said, I'm not quite sure I understand why the question was even raised in the first place...

Iraq clearly has always been "Americas War", one which they and Brittain chose to wage without the support of the international community, for better or for worse.
