What pisses me off the most is when people confuse "Islamic fundamentalists" with "Islamic extremists". The fundamentals of the religion are such that adherence to them would make all Muslims on the planet peace-loving people - and I don't mean to suggest that the majority are not. I agree with Darius 100%, especially the points he made about Iranian sympathy after 9/11. I don't mean to come over as 'British and pompous' or anything, but Americans seem to have this paralytic fear of even the word "Iran", whereas more and more people from Britain are choosing to go there on holiday - particularly the younger generation, who I fear, based on what I read here every day, in America may be brought up to believe that all Muslims are evil. An exact reversal of what many people are complaining about with reference to the Middle East.
Extremism, whatever religion it is based upon, is far more of a problem.
Also, FYI, significant numbers of Palestinians who people have noted danced in the street after 9/11, are Christian. There's far more to this problem than religion.
Try reading "Orientalism", by the late Edward Said. Probably the most intelligent man of the second half of the twentieth century, whose works more people should be exposed to.

In my opinion, the misuse of Islamic teachings to justify the murder of non-muslims is quite popular/accepted among muslims by comparison. Schools operated by the Palestinian Authority and Saudi Arabia have been widely reported. Perhaps the West just doesn't understand.
Iran is a great exception, as mentioned. Hopefully they are too late though, access to information is corrosive to tyrannical regimes, and the population of Iran is quite young.

The fact that some muslim children hate the US has very little to do with religion. Christianity was basically invented in their backyards. They hate the US because of its actions. The west supports governments that oppress them, and they can probably recognize where the Israeli Apache helicopters that blow the shit out of their neighbourhoods on a regular basis came from. If you were in that situation you'd probably not feel too compassionate to Americans either. I've heard lots of canadian kids talk about hating muslims, so don't give me that crap either. Lots of parents teach their children racism. It's not a religious issue, and for that matter very few of us seem to pay any attention to what their religions actually say anyway. Jesus defined hypocrisy as judging others by a different standard than yourself, and there's a lot of that going on these days. Anyone who needs clarification on that point should msg me.

The catholic church has burned,tortured and killed more in its history than any muslim extremist suicide bomber. In its previous life the Catholic church was the most organized terrorist organization in history...period.

I think your forgetting there was no Israel 48-49 years ago. There is a reason why the Palestinians blow the shit out of the Israeli neighborhoods.
It is easy to assume that the bombers want to die. They don't they have nothing left to fight back with. I personally don't think there is a deference if innocent people get killed by Apache helicopters or a bomber, they are both acts of terrorism. Last i checked being able to use cool looking weapons to kill people did not exempt you from being a terrorist.

The hypocrisy is huge here. We give a country that was the inventor of the preemptive attack nuclear weapons, but we tell every one else your not allowed to have them cues your too dangerous. We are the ONLY country that has used nuclear weapons in the past knowing how many innocent people would be killed.

The Arabs were on the wrong side of WWII. They still think that Austrian Corporal was doing a good thing. The chose to not take part in the UN partition, and promised to destroy Israel if created. They tried many times and have failed. No sympathy here.
You have the ability to be an activist for whatever political party you want. They can even win (Ventura winning the MN governorship for example, there are some advocates of the socialist party agenda-even some members of socialist party organizations as members of congress).
