CanuckInUSA 0 #52 February 2, 2004 Regardless of whatever policies may or may not have been in place. The demo jump during the Super Bowl yesterday was a series of BASE jumps made by four (or was it five) very experienced BASE jumpers. The general public likely has no idea, but I think yesterday's events was a positive thing for the BASE community. quade 4 #53 February 2, 2004 Well, it was interesting and did come off well. I'm not really sure if many people outside the BASE community (including some skydivers) really took much note as to whether it was a skydive or BASE jump. Especially since the TV coverage didn't show any of the exits. I'm almost certain that most folks watching TV didn't give BASE a second thought especially in context of the pre-show video of Aerosmith in the astronaut garb. Had the pre-show video been more BASE oriented, yes, I think it would have been a good publicity event for BASE, but I think that any positive BASE publicity as far as the general public is concerned got lost in the noise of other messages.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

CanuckInUSA 0 #55 February 2, 2004 Quoteso what was the video like? Aerosmith all seemed to be wearing BASE rigs, what was all that about? For some reason, things didn't work out the way Jimmy said they would (they must have changed the plan along the way, but why?). It was supposed to be an illusion where the BASE jumpers were dressed as if they were the band members, then they make their jump and the next thing you know Aerosmith shows up on stage wearing their BASE rigs. I have no idea as to why things didn't go as planned, but that's how it was explained to us a couple of weeks ago. But we were told to kept quiet as Jimmy didn't want anything leaking out. ltdiver 3 #56 February 3, 2004 QuoteStatic line or PCA. Most likely Static line. Common on Base jumps. From the BASE video's I've watched.... that was a long canopy ride Very well done though! So, what's the height of that stadium's ceiling? How high did they launch from? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Conquest150 0 #58 February 3, 2004 at least one of these canopies are already on ebay. i saw it on there earlier today and the price was already up to $850 or something like that.
Zennie 0 #59 February 3, 2004 Nice canopies, but given the nature of most of the jumps I do, a little too much on the bright side. I'll stick with my standard black & gray. - Z "Always be yourself... unless you suck." - Joss Whedon
