hooked 0 #1 January 22, 2004 I wasn't able to stay until it was finished but here are some pics of the 2004 Ice Palace in St. Paul, MN while under construction. Simply amazing and very, very cold! They cut the blocks of ice from a lake nearby..........imagine.............that's how cold it was there. fudd 0 #3 January 22, 2004 Looks like a fine little piece of engineering. Would love to see picture of it finished. There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
dgskydive 0 #4 January 22, 2004 Seriously who pays for that and why? It is pretty cool, but who fronts the bill?Dom
MissMae 0 #5 January 22, 2004 Funny, Some states are in severe droughts and others have so much to waste it on stuff like this. What do they do when it melts or starts to? Put it back in the lake so it can be where it should? Sorry, my parents are in Vegas and they can't wash their cars, or water their lawns because of not having enough water. take the time to appreciate the people around you. miller 0 #9 January 22, 2004 It might have something to do with the NHL Allstar game being held there Feb. 8. There's like 10 days of festivities leading up to Allstar Weekend. It's a pretty big deal. On a side note: for my 30th b-day, my wife booked me a trip to MN over Allstar wekend so that I can attend the festivities. Easily my best b-day present ever (btw I live in Detroit == Hockeytown) Mike

FrogNog 1 #13 January 23, 2004 QuoteSorry, my parents are in Vegas and they can't wash their cars, or water their lawns because of not having enough water. I prefer to phrase this as "my parents are in Vegas and they can't wash their cars or water their lawns because they intentionally moved to a city in the middle of a desert." Of course, I should talk. I live in Seattle and often can't jump because I intentionally moved to a low cloud. -=-=-=-=- Pull.
AggieDave 6 #14 January 23, 2004 That's sort of like folks that live in Texas/Oklahoma bitching because they get severe storms, or folks in CA bitching because they get earthquakes, mudslides, wildfires, hippies... I think people know what they're getting into when they move somewhere.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." hooked 0 #20 February 11, 2004 QuoteI wonder what sort of heat they have inside the Palace Ha! Very funny, Jeanne. All I know is, just standing outside the fence watching them build it, was too damn cold! The air temp around the site had to have been colder than normal. Then....what is normal, it was Minnesota!!!! Care to do some Ice Fishing there Jeanne? You know, the little houses they put out on the frozen lakes and they fish through a hole in the ice??? What fun! Jan -------------------------------------- Sometimes we're just being Humans.....But we're always Human Beings.
