An Apprentice skydiver?

Recommended Posts

So on last nights Dateline show about The Apprentice, they said that Bill is a skydiver. I searched posts here ad it has not been mentioned yet. He is from Chicago..I woulda thought that it would have been posted if anyone had jumped with him or seen him at a dz..Is this true?

haha, i see that every now and then.

For instance... Someone mentioned Mark Burnett - creator of Survivor - to be a "Level A" skydiver. They thought that was like the best you could get. I guess I'm it then! I dont need no stinkin B, C or D! :D

If I quit now, up to when can I then call myself a skydiver, with 34 jumps.... and when can you start labeling someone as a skydiver?

And what about someone who punched out of a plane? are they a skydiver? Does that count as a jump in their logbook?!:D

IMHO, you're not a skydiver until you leave the plane of your own accord (i.e. not tandem) and you pull for yourself, saving your own life.

That's just my take on it, though.

IMHO, I've ALWAYS left the plane on MY own accord and yes, on my last tandem I did pull for me and my TM, and I got BEAT UP in midair cause I wasn't watching my altimeter correctly. Some people have the balls but not the space, time, or money to take on the sport round the clock. What do I call myself? I say that I HAVE jumped, but Im a passenger. But I saved my life by not panicking and making things hard on my TM's.

Today is my birthday and I'm 46 (YAY!!). When I have my entire life to myself (kids)...I'll do it. Then when I'm 60 I'm going to have body work done (whoo hoo!!). We all have our priorities.

Now getting to Bill...he's a reality show 'serial contestant'. He tried out for 'The Bachelor' and almost made it but they picked that 'other guy' (I forgot his name already).
(Last rant) Stop picking on Tandem Passengers...we pay damned good money for doing it, and that makes for a HAPPY Dropzone. Bluest of skies~~~April

I'm not.

Oh, pssssssssst...I'm a tandem master, I've done about 300 tandems. I love taking people on tandem skydives and I love training people and taking them on their Cat A and Cat B working tandem dives.

My Cat A and Cat B students pull, if not I pull, end of story. About the only thing I can tell you is that I'm really happy for you having made 4 skydives thus far and I'm motivated for you when you're able to continue this and get a license. However, if you remember this conversation, after your first dive where you're on your own gear, you leave, you pull on your own, you'll understand what I'm saying.

Good luck, bsbd! B|

no one is 'picking' on tandem passengers, its just there is emphasis on the passenger part..

when you do a tandem who is responsible for your life, gear, landing etc?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm responsible for my life. Who is responsible for yours once YOU get in a plane (ever date a pilot?)
Gear - Usually someone who is packing for Jump Tickets. I'd also like to thank the DZ owners and Clubs (GBSP) for BUYING that gear
Landing - Its a 3 way street...the TM, Mother Nature, and the TP. Man, if a TM punched ME..there's gonna be some STUFF in the bar later...lol...hugs and kisses and blue sky wishes~~April
Almost all of us here were at one time Tandem Passengers and paid that money too. Some of us have just devoted more to the sport than JUST THAT.
My take... if you have a license, your own gear, and a passion for the sport (and stay current) then you can call yourself a skydiver.
Tandem passengers aren't skydivers.
I rode in a 747 once. Does that make me a jet pilot?
