skymama 35 #29 March 4, 2004 The invitation is open to anyone, girl (or guy) who would like to join us for some fun. I would love to get as many girls together as we possibly can though, including newbies! The newbie thing brings up another good point...we need a dz that has good, alternate landing areas for our members with lower jump numbers, or those who just like to get out of the way of the swoopers. I think the pro swooping tour is going to be out for most of us. I've never been to The Ranch, but I've heard that the landing area is tight with a lot of rotors that come off the trees. Can someone who has been there give us some insight on this? She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
rjf98 0 #30 March 4, 2004 How about SD Aggieland. Nice outs. Great big landing area on a non busy airport. Great College town atmosphere. Nice Twin turbine BEECH 99. Aggie Dave, Turtlespeed, and RJF98 for all the ladies to admire Seriously It's a very nice place with lots of ammenities not too far away as long as you can ignore some of the locals (turtlespeed and Aggie Dave that is)

Cross Keys is not *too* far from Wildwood...ok, it's about 2 hours I guess, it's not too bad for a day of driving...could this maybe work out for those of us who can't jump on the beach but want to jump? You could jump at Cross Keys and be close enough to hang out at the PST in Wildwood...that's what I was planning on. Cross Keys has an ok size landing area and some outs...I'm used to the landing area as Cross Keys is my home DZ...so I'm not sure how it really compares for landing areas to other DZ's. Just a suggestion is all. alyson team swooo swooo #

ranchhand28 0 #36 March 4, 2004 Hey D! What's going on, chica? 4th of July at the Ranch is really, really fun. I'm taking the whole week off of work since Kolla is going to be here, and we're planning on doing some run-around town, and then heading up to jump our butts off. You must come! Bring your boy, too. The facilities at the DZ are totally guetto, but we all love it. The planes and the people make it up for it Let me know if you need any info, help, ride if you do decide to come. In response to Skymama's post, the landing area is pretty big -- I think. In comparison to my home DZ in Brazil, it is huge. Like you pointed out, the major problem are the squiggly winds coming from the trees. During the summer, it gets turbulent between 2 and 4 in the afternoon, when it is the warmest, and that's when you'll see most of the sensible people sitting out. However, the jumping condition is nothing that you have to worry about. Just make good decisions, and you'll be fine... I'd say it's a must. xoxo -t
jumpwally 0 #37 March 4, 2004 Sorry ,,,nothing against anyone or any place,,,think Eloy x-mas boogie,,then there is no option but Skydive Chicago for the 4th..most turbine aircraft,,,biggest fireworks than most towns,,biggest bon fire's and coolest people,,its the place with the most options and the most fun,,just ask DiverDriver..think about it...wallysmile, be nice, enjoy life FB # - 1083
Amazon 7 #38 March 5, 2004 Ok... NOW HEAR this.. I have been reading thru this thread so far and I HAVE to put my opinion in here. All you people on the East Coast just need to get your butts out here to the Pacific NW for the 4th of July... It does not rain up here in July or Aug.. The weather is very nice.. high 70's to low 80's..the humidity is about 50% or less. The scenery is A W S U M.. witha 14400 ft mountain just to the east of the DZ that is a freakin distraction in Freefall .. The people are realllly super kewl at Kapowsin...and the landing areas are VERY large that anyone can find a place to land in... The Super Otter has BRAND new engines...and its a rocket ship to Altitude We also have a caravan.... The fireworks over Eliot Bay on Puget sound are super pretty...out over the water... I did a quick check of airfares and if you booked now it would NOT be all that much There are good facilities at the DZ for camping And.. you can jump with MOI... Camping, bonfires, good times and humongous landing area. Your A-license and demonstrated currency are cool with us. We generally have a lot of good folks organizing and coaching all disciplines. DaGimp 0 #41 March 5, 2004 well as to where i will be...that i dont know...now as to who i will be with...that i do know....and since mostly everyone is plugging there own DZ i suggest RAEFORD, NC......of course Mullins does sound nice....i LOVE his plane."Professor of Pimpology"~~~Bolas
Kolla 0 #42 March 5, 2004 Ohhh yeah..... - the Ranch for the 4th of July!!! Fight night - the ice cream place about 5 minutes awa - starbucks in town - some "finding nemo" sushi place just down the road from starbucks - deepfried twinkies across the road from Nemo - we can see the Jellystone park from the air - all that shawanga stuff - crazy winds - lovely people! Skymama - the landing area is plenty big, no worries there. The only worries would be the winds getting silly, but like Thereza said you just sit it out and hang with the Ranchers, thats half the fun anyway. If they didn't have snow half the year I swear I think I'd move up there. T - I'm already stashing $$ for our jump-fest - and Gillian is planning to come up for the fun too :) This will be good. 4th of July just isn't getting here fast enough - this will be the boogie of the year, mark my words! Opie 0 #43 March 5, 2004 Come on girls, are you forgeting about the rumor that a certain hanger in the midwest has been painted pink?? Stacy 0 #44 March 5, 2004 I've been up tot he ranch several times. The landing area is pretty big, but it's long and narrow. Stay away from the tree lines and you're fine. I think that in general things seem more turbulent up north. I *grew up* at Cross Keys, visiting the Ranch, delamarva, C-burg, etc etc etc. Lots more trees, etc to mix thigns up. Anyone used to a big florida landing area the size of utah is going to think anywhere up there is small in camparison. I remember my first trip to ZHills, seeing that landing area. It's all in what you're used to. I hear fight night is a BLAAST. my vote however, is with cross keys.If i get to travel anywhere this summer, that's where I'd go in a heartbeat. __

sunnydee123 0 #48 March 5, 2004 WOW...we are getting some great suggestions and her is a few more of my "two cents"....For me, I've been to Raeford on the 4th had a blast and if you can land there, I'm not thinking The Ranch should be a prob. Raeford had those same tree rotor thing-a-ma-jigs and I did good (and I was still a newbie at the time). Went to Cross Keys last summer and it was an ABSOLUTE BLAST, especially on the weekends so there is always that option (if there are "requirements for jumping") and there are TONS of places up there (born and raised in NJ) that have KICK ASS fireworks. I want to "OOOoooo and AAAaahhhh" on the 4th of July Been to Aggieland in summer and it is just WAY TOO HOT but nothing but love for the WHOLE gang there I am hoping to hit SDC again this year but more so for Summerfest although I hear the fireworks display is FAB-U-LOSO! Never been to Mullins place but of course have heard lots. Hmmmmm...... Did someone mention there house? Got a plane that will pick us up and dump us accordingly So as of right now looks like The Ranch is very high on the list (plus look who is going to be there?.....Kolla, Gillian, Dove, Theresa and PMS). I am betting if we were to start looking in the next month or so, we could get kick butt deals on flights. JUST IN CASE...what is the best airport to fly into? skymama 35 #49 March 5, 2004 QuoteJUST IN CASE...what is the best airport to fly into? Also, is there camping or are there hotels nearby? Is the airport so far away that we'd have to rent cars also? What about facilities at the dz (showers, restaurant, bar?). Do they have enough planes to handle a bunch of dz.commer women invading them? sunnydee123 0 #50 March 5, 2004 Might have to wait for people to wake up but I was just scanning the website and it seems there is camping and showers and hotels and everything. Depends on what we want to do. Only thing I could not determine was the airport/car rental situation. Pictures from last year look fun - I saw a big old pig being roasted Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...
