Luv2Fall 0 #6 August 5, 2004 "HiJack This" works well........a download found via following link: www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html
hookitt 1 #7 August 5, 2004 Download this to your desktop and run it. http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ That's for the latest viruses and trojans. Spybot and adaware needs to be run as well. Hijack this, you'll need some coaching on... not by me. Start with Stinger.
jumperconway 0 #8 August 5, 2004 I did this from my office computor. My home computor won't bring up my internet. The home page comes up as some sort of search page. When I try to bring up say DZ.com, it is on the end of the screwed up page. In internet options, everything is correct but when opening it up, it gets redirected to this BS search page. Norton found nothing along with add-aware! I was able to get past it this morning going through netscape so I guess netscape is safe is not vulnerable to this. nightjumps 1 #9 August 5, 2004 The cause of this error is most likely because you have some kind of spyware/adware/parasite installed on your computer. You could try these steps to eliminate the problem. 1) Go to Add/Remove programs in Control Panel and Uninstall any programs that seem suspicious or that you know you did not install. 2) You can download a free version of SpyBot (http://www.download.com/3000-8022-10122137.html) and run it on your computer to get rid of any such programs installed. 3) Go to this website (http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/)which will automatically check your browser and display if any known parasites are presernt in the browser. jumperconway 0 #10 August 5, 2004 Thanks, I would think that norton or add-aware would find it!
PhillyKev 0 #11 August 5, 2004 find and download CWShredder. That gets rid of a lot of homepage hijackers.
psuCory 0 #12 August 5, 2004 Hey Conway, I'm guesing you see "about:blank" in the address bar... it was a freakin nightmare trying to get rid of that thing on my home pc (at the time these removal programs didn't exist... so it involved a lot of registry tweaking and hidden program searching). These days it is a bit easier to remove. AndyMan 7 #13 August 5, 2004 I presume you're using Internet Explorer? Reset your home page. Browse to whatever page you want to set as your home page, then go to the Tools menu, select "Internet Options" Under the "Home Page" section, click "Use Current", then "OK". _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. AndyMan 7 #15 August 5, 2004 Quote Won't help if he's got a hijacker installed. Which completely remains to be seen. Often a hijacked homepage is caused simply by some clever javascript. The fact that Ad-aware didn't find anything reinforces this. If the simple fix didn't work, only THEN would I start recomending targetted downloads. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
