Well are you going to drop me a PM and tell me who it is?

Look at the URL path; It's a dead giveaway.

I PM'd her a full URL.

Mar, we know computers and you have a love hate relationship.... ;)

That's cool. A good way to keep people from hosting your images on their webpage. There is probably a pretty simple script or methode to do that.

----------------

It's easy... you have the picture, they're just linking to it. Replace it with a picture with same name.
A funny series of something similar here
it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

It's me.........

I have since pulled the photo. But you have all seen it.

I got annoyed because he stole the whole ad. If he had just borrowed a picture I wouldn't have minded. Hell, I stole the photo from someone else. But he copy and pasted my whole ad. I just figured he needed to accept the consiquences of copying a link to my photos.

Does anyone feel I went to far?

I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to computers and how E-Bay works.

Are you saying that was your ad and some one placed that picture on there?

Or, you set up that ad and stole it from someone else.

I'm not questioning what you did, I'm just trying to figure out how this whole thing works:S Can you please break it down for me?

I have an ad on e-bay selling altimeters.

He decided to do the same thing.

He copied and pasted my entire ad to use in his ad and then just took out the stuff he didn't want in it.

My ad is HTML with links to the photos on my web server.

He didn't copy the photos, just copied the links. So I put a new photo up on my server with the same name so that the new photo came up in his ad.

I didn't do anything to his ad, I just changed MY photo.

Here is my ad on e-bay:

Yes, that would piss me off, too. I've had people copy photos of my old ads, but never copy my whole current ad, (that I know about). So here is my suggestion:

Replace that photo with an image explaining the ad is a ripoff of yours, and give them the eBay item # of your ad.

BTW: Got any more of those photos? ( Not the altimeter, the other ones.)

Ok Robert, I took your advice.

They are all over the internet.....I'm sure you can find some.

Don't worry; Ever since AggieDave pointed out www.pinkworld.com., I've had no shortage. ;-)

I got this from a friend I showed the eBay ad:

So what's he going to do if you use a porn picture without asking? Give you a picture of the Church Lady instead?

Yeah, I'm aware of that.

In order to mess with him, I had to change all my ads so that the new photo didn't come up on mine. I even had to cancel one ad that already had bids on it. It was just more work than what was needed to change both pictures.

darn... got to work and was so excited to show all the buddies and it was fixed. I was laughed at [:/]

So did ebay give you a break on posting and help you out?

Why bother with all these silly games?

Why don't you just put a banner in your jpegs? Am I missing something here?

Respectfully,

mh

edit to add: it's just a picture of the same product, fer cryin' out loud...so he's too lazy to take his own pictures for the auction - so what?

Are you the owner of the patents and the copyrights for the Altimaster III? If so, I can understand your wanting to judiciously guard your intellectual property, but if you aren't - C'MON! It's just a jpeg of some skydiving hardware, not the Mona Lisa!

Ahhh young grasshopper:
1. Code is I.P. - It belongs to David since he wrote it. (The images are copyright their original owners)
2. The guy is 'pretending' to be David since he's using his ad (e.g. misleading customers)
3. The guy should not have borrowed an ad from an established store. I've borrowed ads before, but it was for a single item, single sale. The descriptions worked for what I was doing.
4. Well, it's just fun sometimes to really screw with people.
