Hey Val,
The bunkhouse on the DZ is ok as long as it isn't raining, because then it floods. The IHOP is a better choice. It has a kitchen and is relatively clean. The only thing is that if there are teams in they get the priority and may both be full. In that case you can stay with me as long as you clear it with Sunshine as she may get jealous....

Umm...NO. I told you before, you can't be around any other girls. Now i'm gonna have to come out and make sure you behave....

Do you have a car?
During the last camp I stayed in the casino - hotel. It was about 15 min drive towards Elsinore. Room with two big beds $30. So if you share it with 2 or 3 others it is cheaper than the IHOP.
The IHOP looked pretty nice but the last times all beds were kind of double used as all the flooded people from the bunkhouse had moved in.

On the plus side the bunkhouse is cheaper than the IHOP and is free when it is flooded. I was there for two weeks from the day after Christmas to last Saturday and paid nothing but I was assured that the weather wasn't typical. (I actually booked the IHOP in July but apparently there was a problem during a software upgrade so I ended up in the bunkhouse.) We gave up clearing the water away after the third flooding. It only floods to about 3/4 inch so depending on your footwear your feet should stay dry. The main problem is keeping everything off the floor, tying your shoes up on a rail when you go to bed, etc.

On the minus side, with no easy rest area, you may end up spending all the money you saved on alcohol in the Bomb Shelter. From a UK perspectve this was a futile exercise. It doesn't seem possible to get drunk on US beer. My thanks to Jan and his Finnish Vodka without which New Years Eve would have been a lot less fun.

The showers are OK. The toilet/shower area is the one part that doesn't flood. They are kept in a very clean condition. The funny looking brown stuff on the shower floors is solid. Don't let it scare you. One slightly weird feature is that the sink outlet is plumbed in to the wall of the right shower so if somebody is brushing their teeth while you are in that shower it can get a bit gross.

The lack of windows is also weird. I swear that one morning when I opened my eyes it was darker after I opened them. A torch is a must. The rooms do have air conditioning so the lack of windows doesn't result in stuffiness. You also have the chance to appreciate Misty's artwork.

Anything else you need to know?

Hmm...if I book it now for May, will that still be a problem?

Thanks for the info everyone! I'll probably end up staying in the IHOP because it sounds decent! :)

Hey Chris, It's Tom from Square 1. You're right, the facilities here are great as long as it's not raining and it doesn't really rain here too much. Right now it's some freak weather occurance. Remember, when coming here for a visit to bring extra Bombshelter money!!!

Actually, the IHOP is sounding decent based on these posts. I'll check it out, as well, since we'll be doing the tunnel sessions together. It'll be fun to room together with you, Val. (You know me, I feel much more comfortable rooming with at least one other woman. :$)

I was thinking of the Hot Sex that we are all supposed to be sharing! I'll bring TONS! :D

And, Rosa, yes, I think it would be great to room with you! I also want to room with another woman if possible!

Has anyone stayed at the IHOP since the wind tunnel has been in place and running?

I've stayed there several times and it was plenty clean for me, the snoring can be a problem....and the bathrooms while always clean sometimes had a waiting line.

Other than my worries about the noise of the wind tunnel I'd stay there in a second!

I didn't hear the wind tunnel at all while staying at the IHOP...but then I didn't hear my roommates partying in the next room either. But seriously, don't think the noise from the wind tunnel is a big concern.
