Hmmmm. Not so sure about this one.

Hey all,

I was just wondering if anyone knew about an email with "Parachute" as the subject. It has no text body and there is a 4.2MB attachment entitled "Parachute.mpg". I received this yesterday and I do not recognize the sender or any of the names in the reciepient list.

I am obviously reluctanct to open it but curious about it's contents.

What say you guys?

do you have a “sacrificial lamb” pc hanging round you can open it on?

I don't... per say ;)

I should have made this a poll: "Should I open the mysterious email at work?"

a) No that would be irresponsible
b) Screw 'em! Down with the coorporation!

:D

Seriously, I'm half-expecting someone to have seen this one already. If so, I really thought it should be posted here for the number of people that will take the subject to mean the email is a proper one.

I have emailed the sender. I will keep you posted on that.

If you're really bent on running the attachment, reply to sender and verify that you do/do not know them.

I agree with Matt/panzwami, do a reply to that e-mail. Usually, if it is a spam/bogus e-mail it will most certainly bounce back to you as "undeliverable" or something like that. If it is a valid e-mail address then the sender can identify him/herself then you will know. I would not open it as it is.
