What kind of jump did you do first?

Recommended Posts

Which was it and why?

I did static line. At the time, our DZ only had tandem or S/L, and my husband wouldn't let me do a tandem. :P

So what was yours? Why did you do it? And no I won't call you a wussy if you did a tandem first. I will just know that I am superior because I wasn't a-skeered to do it all by myself! :) (To date I have still have never got to do a tandem.)

-And if you did military first, vote twice; once for that, & once for how you entered the 'sport' skydiving world...:)
PS -anyone else out there never been on a tandem jump?

First jump was a tandem, was supposed to be a one time thing, but I got hooked, went throuhg AFF, etc. I wish I had discovered skydiving sooner than my 50th birthday, but better late than never :)

First jump was a static line, didn't do a tandem until recently to help some friends become TMs.

Thought you had to have a 'C' to be passenger on a TM in training...

But you lived, so who cares :P:D

Same Boat here.
My first was a tandem b/c I had to drive 3-4 hours to go to the DZ and I brought 3 friends with me to do their tandems. I didnt have the time to sit thru ground school AND I wanted to be sure I wouldnt freak out in freefall LOL...I didn't

my second was b/c My brother came to Fla to visit with me and I took him to the DZ and did a jump...I wanted to be in the same plane with him so we could jump at the same time. ( childhood dream)

then I did my AFF 6 months later;)

My 1st jump was a s/l on a lovely big round when I turned 16.
I was there the night before and on my 16th I went out of the plane.

It was at Shobdan airfiled in Herefordshire with a chap called Mac McCarthy I think.

For Strong rating it's 100 jumps to be a passenger. I don't know about the others.

I still won't be able to do it for a few hundred more jumps. :P It will take that long to convince Joe it's a good idea to let someone else do stuff for me... Oh, and it'll hafta be a female instructor, too. :S

yep I've never been on a tandem jump. My very first jump was AFF1. and from the poll, I'm not the only one.

and I'm surprised that there are so many static line first jumpers, since a lot of DZs have phased them out. but maybe a lot of those people were military. You should have had a selection for how many people did their first skydive as military personnel.

my third tandem was about 10-20 jumps ago when I was the recurrency dummy. its wierd not being in control:D

When riding as passenger you can be in control!!!
You are on the front, so you catch all the clean air.
(By the way if yoy practice you can pull all handles from a passenger position!.:P

Using your droque to gain stability is a bad habit,
Especially when you are jumping a sport rig
