i just called up Mirage b/c im ordering my FIRST rig and i asked about this, they said that the DRX system isnt even available yet.

My Facebook using friends provided me with http://video-sf2p.facebook.com/v91/39/122/45396815290_54902.flv. Too bad the clip in question is only a few seconds short. Looks just like a Skyhook demo to me: The main is connected to the reserve pilot bridle. The reserve pilot just hangs on, basically, while the main pulls the freebag.

If it's anything like the Skyhook (I can't access the videos), it's a mechanical connection.

The DRX system is being designed to be retrofitted/ordered on new/old G3 and G4 Mirages. But as of today, it's not available to purchase for any of their systems.

They've had a couple of "release dates" that haven't happened. But your best bet would be checking this site regularly: www.miragesys.com. It'll be posted there as soon as it is.

Dealers aren't all master riggers, so no, this won't be able to be installed by most dealers.

But depending on demand, Ward at Mirage has said the company will allow a Mirage Service Center, such as ChutingStar, and/or possibly master riggers in general (after visiting the factory for instruction such as those allowed to install the Skyhook) to do the install.

But my understanding is that when it is first released it will be a factory-only install. I will get setup to do the installs as soon as it is released and they will allow it out-of-house for installs.

Just wondering if any body knows when the drx is gona be availabe as i need a new rig and want a mirage, i dont wana wait 6 months for a vector 3, but next rig will have a drx or skyhook. Thanx for any info.

While having a few beers with Ward about 3 weeks ago, he said there is no light at the end of the tunnel.

He has no expectations of completion and I think he would actually prefer not to discuss it.

Be the canopy pilot you want that other guy to be.

Do you know if that's because of legal stuff (skyhook) or are there any technical problems with the system itself?

I think the concept itself works because I haven't heard anything bad about skyhook.

Well, there have been a few close calls and one tandem issue with it I believe.

Keep in mind that the skyhook is not like a cypres that just gets put into a pocket on a rig. It's _part_ of the rig, and all the parts need to work together. A Skyhook that works great on a Vector does not mean a similar system will work well on another rig.
