no idea.. i've been getting all my wine at cost for the last few months... i discovered the last one i really liked was about $80 retail and the one i had before (that i wasnt so keen on) is over a $100..
however i'm a HUGE fan of an Aussie blend "Mak" (about 16 retail) and there is a $8 "Five Rivers" that is very tasty as well... (and the label has what looks like a bellyflier even..)

I've found that I really like Australian wines.
Maybe it's the accent...

Thanks for the heads up. It's definitely on my list when I make it to Cali next. His high end wines are suppossed to be where it's at.
Bunch of good ones listed...raven's wood, for under $10 you can get rex goliath cab, really good for the price.

A locally grown wine called Scarlett (yes, ther eis a Rhett, too). You generally can't get it except from the shop in Dahlonega, GA so I buy it by the case.
I also like Rosemont Shiraz....2002 was a very good year.
GFD brought some really good ones to the Dublin boogie last year, too. I can't say the names of any of them and don't see them around but I think they were from South America, Brazil maybe.

I got a chance to visit last February. We spent two day in Napa...one touring the local wineries. Did one of those van tours. That's really the way to go. I mean...who wants to spit out all that lovely wine. Alan and I both ended up pretty much snookered. Of course, it was probably the entire bottle of wine we had at the deli that got us that way.
I thought Coppalo's place was great and certainly beautiful.

So when one was being particularly offensive at the country club in Houston, he went ahead, and as offered, ordered the wine he wanted. $700/bottle, in 1976. He said it was delicious, at least twice as good as some $200 wine he'd had, which was at least twice as good as some $75 wine he'd also had.
And the $75 wine was not really twice as good as $25 wine.
So he determined that that $75 was the most he'd spend of his own money, and a nice splurge was a $25 bottle of wine. 1970's prices, but wine hasn't risen as much as a lot of other things.
And we had some nice Ravenswood zinfandel with pasta last night. It's wonderful to come home late to dinner being all ready; all I had to do was light the candles

Derek and I decided that the most wineries you can do in a day is 4, two before lunch and two after. Definitely do not have wine with lunch either, anything more than that and you can't remember what you drank or where you got it.

I so want to take a trip to some vineyards. Where would everyone recommend? Let's just SEE if we can leave Cali out of it, just because it's pretty far for me. Any good ones in the south?

Messina Hof in Texas is a nice one, although it's been about 10 years since I went so things could have changed.

As one of the many winemakers for the worlds largest wine company it is good to see so many of you drinkning our wines!!
That being said, I recommend checking out some of the reds or whites for that matter from Ferrari-Carano. Not one of our wineries.

I agree fully. It's a very good wine, but you pay about $12 for the wine and $7 for the name.

Yes, sadly when we got the champagne at the end of tour it tasted like those apple bitters you spray to keep dogs from eating stuff.
I think your right about four being enough in one day...but what the heck, I won't get back for a while.

Its 3 Buck Chuck by us and I'm not even sure if they carry it anymore. I'd call it the best wine under $10.00, but if you up your budget to between $10 and $20, you can do much better!
