Sittin in Iraq

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, just sitting here at Balad AB, Iraq, on 24 hour alert status. Not much to do except surf the net and see what the rest of the world is up to. A little bored right now so I thought I'd start a post.

I can't wait to get home and hit some boogies this summer. My other job lets me travel for free and I'll have a lot of time off. Hopefully, I'll get to see some of you this summer.

Take Care!

Hey whats up! I'm sitting here on Victory doing pretty much the same thing. I work 1900-0700. I pretty much spend 90% of the night "surfing".

I was at Balad for a while the 1st time around (was there in april '03....left for Taji and ended back up there for a bit around december '03 before heading to Basra and then out).....I'm bored to so thought I'd chime in :|:D.....

I'm sitting here in a Computer Apps class bored out of my mind.... [:/]

You have to love the old computer classes. In one of my college computer classes we were able to access a lot of porn sites. I don't remember much from that class. Except it had something to do with Japanese twins.

HA HA HA Camp Anaconda what a place one of the camps I hauled fuel to. Spent lots of time there and got to watched my first fire fight and mortar attack from the hooch we were staying in. I miss the place.

Cool, I was in Al Udied 1.5 years ago. That place is Club Med compared to here. This place has turned into a mudhole lately from the rain. Oh well, things could be MUCH worse.

The mortars were pretty hot and heavy when I got here. Lately, though, it has been quiet.

im sittin in baip at striker, the generator caught on fire so i got online after they got the power up.

I don't know how any of us could survive over here without the internet. When we had a computer glitch a few days ago, everyone in my squadron freaked (including me). Everything's okay know. Everything, is going to be, O.K.

I've already lost track of what day it is. Good on ya going to Deland. If I didn't have to do this trip I would be spending my winter months there. Oh well, there is always next year.

I always wanted one of the shurpas to land at my home camp so I could jump from it. They used to buzz my camp on there way to a near by air base.

added- in case you don't know what the shurpa is it looks like a CASA will a long pointy nose.

Jordan,

I see your from Lawton. I spent Sept 2000 - Feb 2002 doing my pilot training and other AF courses in Wichita Falls, TX. I used to ride my R1 up to Lawton on the weekends because it was the closest place that had an Outback Steakhouse. Mmm.....Steak.

I wish I could remember the name of the mountain just north of town that you could drive all the way to the top (the road wrapped around it).

Sounds good, dude. You can always reach me through a PM. This summer I should have a lot of time on my hands, for the most part. Hopefully, I'll run into you at a boogie somewhere.

Looking foward to it. Getting leave is a bitch right now, but I'm hoping to make it to one of them in the states this year.

Enjoy the fireworks, keep the hot metal on target, and PM me when you get back.

Oh yeah. Forgot! Still a great program at Sheppard! Internationals and all!

The NATO students and instructors definitely give that place some character. My favorite time was when the German Luftwaffe flew in an Airbus full of food, beer, and a band, for Oktoberfest. Don't remember a whole lot from that night.
