HELP ! I just bought an eBay Rig !

Recommended Posts

I just bought my first rig for $1,230 !!!
Please let me know if this was good or bad deal ??
This is for a used Reflex harness container system with a Raven 181-M reserve and a TOmcat 190 Main (Sabre clone made by Air Time designs.)

The container is black with a teal pop-top and navy trim.

Has BOC throw-out collapsable pilot chute and RSL (reserve static line - cutting away main opens reserve, unless you release the latch).

The Main is a rainbow pattern and is very nice looking. It is zero-P and has just over 50 jumps. Also has a collapsable slider

The reserve is a raven 181 with zero jumps, and only a few repacks - practically new. (worth more than the opening bid just by itself)

Container: 12/97. Reserve: around that time (10/97, I think) Main: 7/95. Non-stainless steal hardware.

Please Advise !!! T H A N K - Y O U !!!

I bought used gear on here but I bought all name brand stuff so to speak, and made everything turned out well. Usually you can use a rigger as a third party to hold the container till everything is check out, then money is sent. Some people do not like doing that but chances are, they are trying to rip you off in the first place. I would not jump something that a professional did not examine first, so why would you pay money for something you wouldnt jump.

THANK YOU Ian !
Are you Russian ?
I also found BAD news about the Rave M-181...
To ensure that all jumpers would be able to get their canopies in compliance quickly, we needed the riggers in the field with appropriate equipment. To set an acceptable payment to these riggers, we (at Precision) established a charge of $50. With Precision charging this amount, the riggers in the field could charge the same amount and not be accused of "gouging" customers. The riggers would be paid by the customers directly and with registration of the completed repair, a merchandise credit of $100 was issued to the customer to offset his expense.
In many cases, dealers (riggers) would perform this update for no charge to the customer and accept the customers merchandise credit certificate in exchange.

...a little description of the SB... The Dash-M canopies affected by the Service Bulletin use Type III tape for the line attachment loops, attached to the lower surface load bearing rib by a single 42 stitch bartack. These canopies were manufactured from initial release, 03 October 1996, thru 12 April 1999.

OMG ! There is only garbage on eBay !
