Brains 2 #1 February 16, 2006 My home pc is having trouble with my cd/dvd drive AND my cd burner. When i pull up "my computer" they both show up (icons) when i try to use either drive, they disappear and don't work Yes, the icons literally disappear from the screen. I have tried the dell support solutions of uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers(windows XP) to no avail. Anyone have any other suggestions i could try?? mnealtx 0 #2 February 16, 2006 Likely a corrupt driver that isn't getting deleted out/reinstalled. Try deleting the drives in device manager, reboot, and let XP find them and reinstall all the drivers.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. Lindercles 0 #5 February 16, 2006 Just get drunk and drop it, and then spend an hour or so trying to figure out where all the little metal pieces go. That should fix it (and be terribly entertaining in the process).

Nightingale 0 #8 February 16, 2006 For a starter mac, the mini is probably the best choice, since it starts at around five hundred for a complete system (www.microcenter.com). The minis are not available with intel yet.

Slurp56 0 #10 February 17, 2006 Replace the Drive. The "Drivers" that they speak of are in-box to windows XP. I dont know that you can un-install and re-install Windows XP native drivers...________________________________________ I have proof-read this post 500 times, but I guarantee you'll still manage to find a flaw. Broke 0 #11 February 17, 2006 Crapples are much better now that they are basically running an nix box. They have become a whole lot more stable of an operating platform. Also for editing and graphics I will have to admit that Macs do that very well. The only reasion there isn't as much support out there for mac is untill recently it was still very very propriatory. Still is by comparison when looking at the PC.Divot your source for all things Hillbilly. Anvil Brother 84 SCR 14192
