peacefuljeffrey 0 #1 March 3, 2006 Just curious how many people know how to make closing loops. After I learned how to make them and got myself a loop puller, I went a little crazy with it (this was some months ago): since I have about 12 different colored spools of paracord, I made them in all kinds of colors, like neon pink, neon yellow, neon green, royal blue, imperial red, black, silver, purple... It's kind of a fun pastime that's also productive. Now then, how about Monkey's Fists? --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!" ROK 0 #2 March 3, 2006 I worked on an ocean going tug and we would make our own monkey fists, and I'd usually make mine around a small galvanized pipe fitting to give it a little more weight. We'd also use different size "fids" to weave the mooring lines back into each other. I have a hard enough time packing as it is without worrying about whether I screwed up a closing loop. I'll leave that to the experts...for now. I would like to learn though!
pywas 0 #3 March 3, 2006 Make myself a "loop puller" from a wire and use 725 lbs spectra for loops (old lines left from the canopy reline), but those damn things lasts forever, 90 jumps on mine and counting
wingnut 0 #4 March 3, 2006 i make my own.... i have a racer and it has one hel of a long closing loop, most of the premade one loating around are to short..... besides, it's just easier than having to search for one when mine gets worn... just pull one out of the gear bag and i'm done.... ______________________________________ "i have no reader's digest version"
